guys, move on. we aren't getting Monroe. you can not believe it and flail and scream and yell until you're blue in the face but it is what it is, we aren't landing any of the big time FAs. Monroe is maybe the highest we would possibly do but it was my belief all along that any 'interest' Monroe had in joining us was all agent driven in order to get teams into a bidding war and maximize his client's offers.
be happy if we actually are able to get some traction with Tobias. Monroe aint happening
Source?
my source is history. big time FAs end up in 1 of 2 areas:
1 - warm weather/great nightlife cities, usually (but not necessarily) with big media markets (miami, LA, ny/Chicago [yes not warm weather but a huge media/marketing area], orlando, TX, etc)
2 - contending clubs that are possibly championship contenders (think how we were able to get the Shaq's and Sheed's of the world when we were competing)
young guys that have freedom to choose for the first time in their professional careers aren't going to choose to go to a city like Boston. it's something i've been preaching since joining the boards, and everyone jumps at the chance to tell me how wrong i am, but we will see.
just don't get your hopes up that we're going to be able to reel in any big fish the size of Aldridge, Butler, Love, etc. i always thought there was a faint chance of Monroe based more in the fact that he's not exactly a superstar and we have money to burn, but even he seemed like a pipedream. make no mistake, someone will certainly take our money, but it's going to be more a case of us overpaying for guys to come spend their winters here than it will be guys that want to be Celtics.
but now i'll sit back and wait to be mocked and told i'm crazy for reciting facts and that i don't know what i'm talking about.
