Free agent forward-center Greg Monroe plans to meet with four teams in the first 24 hours of a free agency. The Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers are on Monroe?s list on day one of free agency, and there is a possibility he meets with other teams, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

Another factor in the Monroe negotiations: Monroe is interested in a three-year deal with the ability to opt out after the 2016-17 season and hit free agency in the summer of 2017 and take advantage of a salary cap that is projected to hit $108 million.

Hopefully we swoop in after all the other scrub teams make their pitch  ;D

Hopefully, right now it seems Love will be our #1 target so I guess he's plan B?

What?! I thought we were confirmed as one of the teams on his list?

Does it still say that the Celtics are on the list?

guys, move on. we aren't getting Monroe. you can not believe it and flail and scream and yell until you're blue in the face but it is what it is, we aren't landing any of the big time FAs.  Monroe is maybe the highest we would possibly do but it was my belief all along that any 'interest' Monroe had in joining us was all agent driven in order to get teams into a bidding war and maximize his client's offers.

be happy if we actually are able to get some traction with Tobias.  Monroe aint happening

That is surprising but not so important.

that's fine.  The traditional Power Forward position is nearly extinct in this League anyways...  Let Phil have him.

I'm curious what happened here. Did he push his meeting back with us a day? Did he decide out of the blue that he had no interest in Boston? Or did Boston decide not to look at him because they got interest from someone better?

I really hope it's the last option.

It's probably more that he can only meet with so many teams in a given day and pushed back other teams to a different day.  It seems to suggest the teams he meets with first are his top options, though.

Bulpett's report echoes this one -- the Celts aren't the #1 choice for anybody of note.

If Monroe picks LA or NY over Boston, he's either stupid or he and his advisers care about "brand-building" more than winning.  There's no way Portland can put a full-court press on for Monroe until they know for absolutely sure that Aldridge is leaving.  So, I'm not too concerned that those are among the first teams Monroe will hear from.

The Bucks, however, can make a pretty strong argument for being a better choice than Boston.

For some reason I was quite confident about Greg Monroe in Green. Now? Not so much. I mean, this may nothing - maybe the Celtics had to move the visit back a day because of engagements with another player? If this is his list of preferred destinations first, the fact that Milwaukee is ahead of us makes me sad... I mean, Milwaukee has some decent talent there and Greg Monroe will help them, but, Milwaukee - really?

Tobias Harris doesn't do it for me, and he is the player we are most rumored to be able to sign. Tobias Harris AND Greg Monroe is great - but just Harris isn't getting me too excited for this offseason.

Lots of "experts" convinced Monroe will be a Knick

He's not meeting with the Cs because Isaiah said that he only wanted the three guys from the western conference. These guys take that stuff personally, you know?
