So I see Hibbert opted in to his contract and the Pacers are looking to move him, and rumor has it they will let him go for pretty cheap. Would you guys be happy with us taking a chance on him or would you rather someone like Monroe for similar money. Or option C being neither  8)

I would definitely take a shot at him. He can be had for cheap and we are not getting players of his talent level anywhere else, nevermind legit big men who can defend the paint and score in the post.

Why not? They are practically giving him away and he's not a cancer or anything. If he doesnt work out, he's a free agent at the end of the season so we don't lose much.

We would have to trade for him but I would take a shot on him if the price we have to trade is reasonable. He might be an under valued opportunity.

Would rather keep our salary flexibility this Summer. Much like Indiana not interested in his slowness, so even if he gets back a bit into his previous rhythm, I still wouldn't want him. And the thing that gets praised the most for him, his defense, I find it quite overrated.

So in all, I just don't like him as a player, even more so for our squad. So even if he works out, which I doubt very much, I still don't want him.

There is no "taking a shot" with Hibbert, every team knows exactly what you would get with him.  He will help your defense and flat crush your offense.  In other words NOOO!

Wallace and a future first for Hibbert. Sign Kevin Love. Being Pierce back. Move a package of young talent and a future pick for a lockdown stud wing when they become available. (Sully, first and what?)

Smart/Thomas/Rozier
Bradley/Hunter/Young
Wing/Crowder
Love/KO/Mickey
Hibbert/Zeller

Sorry, but you have US sending a future first to take on the larger contract of Hibbert that the Pacers DON'T want?

Yeah, that makes sense..

Yup, absolutely.

I know Hibbert has had some bad moments throughout his career but when I see him, I just think the pros far outweigh the cons.

Also, honestly the way I feel, beggars can't be choosers.

If we end up striking out on getting a center in the FA market like Robin Lopez or Greg Monroe, and Hibbert is the best we can do, then why the hell not?

A new team and new environment could do a lot of good for him and it would be nice to have an actual center for a chance.

And like someone else mentioned, he only has one year left so if he doesn't pan out, you just let him walk next summer.

Exactly.

I think Hibbert is actually a pretty darn good center minus that meltdown he had during the playoffs in 2014.

If we strike out on other free agent centers, then I would definitely take him.

That was basically my thinking. He makes gives us the rim protection and interior defense while love spaces the floor and gives us the offensive punch from the 4. Sign Pierce to a team friendly deal and that's probably good for contending in the atlantic i'd say. Plus that gives you plenty of flexibility next year with a Hibbert expiring and the cap jumping we'd have tons of flexibility

Depends, maybe for the right deal. But I'd really rather they sign Koufos this summer. He's a guy that would fit right in to what they're building culture wise here, he's a vastly under-rated rim protector and can be had for a decent price. Just adding a real center and cleaning up some of the clutter from draft night could make this a good enough team to win the Atlantic. We had one of the best records in the league post-IT trade, and we were basically a .500 team even with the bad start. Add a competent defensive minded 5 like Koufos to that Smart/IT/Crowder/KO/Sully group and they can win 45-50 games.
