I wouldn't give up anything of value in a trade for Hibbert. He is a FA in 12 months time and he will be very available. Indiana do not want him back. Most of the league does not want a plodder like Hibbert. So his price-tag will be low and there will be a lack of competition for his signature. I'd rather target him then and keep our assets.

Precisely.

If we end up missing out on Monroe I don't see why not. I think the Pacers are sick of him and would take Wallace and Minnesota's first round pick next year that we have. Could end up being a nice combination, but he would definitely have to lose some weight to play in our uptempo offense.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I would only go for Hibbert if Indy takes on Wallace, we get a 'swingman' at least the caliber of Harris, and we are absolutely unable to acquire any of the available big men FAs. Frankly, I think I would rather have Biyombo than Hibbert at this point. He does make sense in some ways, though, and I can't imagine we are just going to sit still again this year.

Source says Mavs would consider a salary-dump deal for Roy Hibbert if DeAndre Jordan doesn't choose Dallas. But still hopeful about DJ.

Thought this might be of relevance.

And as for my previous post about the trade kicker, it can be ignored. It doesn't count in the player option final year.

I would take a shot on Hibbert.

The Mavericks would have to drastically change what they did if they got Hibbert. Not a chance they can run a wide open fast paced style with Hibbert and a broken down Dirk.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Gerald Wallace + Zeller or Sullinger for Hibbert. I think this would be a decent deal for both sides.

To me it depends on what it will cost.  Would I trade Wallace plus another player?  Probably after I checked out other options and if they fell through, yes

I say yes to Hibbert, he gives us the 7'0 rim protector we need and his contract lines up as an nice expiring for next year. Still only 28 and needs a change of scenery.
Amir and Hibbert is a tough defensive pairing!

Send them Wallace and Turner and the Cavs 1st in 2016

We still have 3 x 1st rounders in 2016, and the flexibility to add two max guys in 2016 and we will prob make the playoffs again. Best of all worlds

With Ellis going to the Pacers, this could easily be a S+T situation if the pacers are willing to part with Hibbert.
Play to win.  Always.

Danny might want to get a move on, then, if it's something of interest to him:

Sources: If Mavs miss on DeAndre Jordan, it's expected talks with Indiana on Monta Ellis-Roy Hibbert centered sign-and-trade will happen.

I'm not really excited about Hibbert, he's not only slow, he's also lackadaisical too much of the time, but if we could dump Wallace's contract, I'd do it. He's worth a shot for a year.

I just can't stand seeing Wallace making 10 mil. a year to be a cheerleader anymore.
