yeah ok... agree to disagree. I expected more from Smart. Many people here did too (I've seen the threads). I don't think we anticipated that his rookie numbers would be on a par with rookie Iman Shumpert. That was disappointing. If you expected Iman Shumpert numbers, good for you. I expected more. Anyways... The only way we're trading him is in a trade package for a much better prospect (noel/embiid) or in a trade package for a star (Melo/Cousins)... None of that is likely to happen... so whatever. Here's hoping Smart makes strides in year 2. He's got the mental makeup that you can't rule him out. He's a great defender. HOpefully he can develop into a competent offensive player... right now he's got a long way to go to even be as good as prime Tony Allen.
Absolutely, allow me to give you a TP. I went off a bit there, been a rough day for this C's fan.
To me though, it's all about context. Did I expect better numbers from Smart? At one point when we traded Rondo. But once we got IT I knew CBS wasn't going to be handing the keys to Smart. If that trade never happened I woulda been more disappointed if he put up the same numbers. Like I said, his elite defense demanded major PT, but with his offense so far behind it only makes sense to limit his responsibilities and have him work on his biggest weakness (his jumpshot). Which I think we can all agree improved dramatically this year.
I get that your not high on Smart, but as others have said his defense is elite. By his prime he can certainly be as good as TA. And if TA could shoot a halfway respectable jumper, he'd be an all-star. That's almost Smart's floor, he could be much better than that. Philly wants him, but Hinkie is smart enough to realize Noel is worth more and is trying to beat DA at his own game. Much more likely some combo of Bradley, KO/Sully/Zeller and Turner/Young/Hunter and/or picks is traded for a legit C.
Again, I apologize for the hostility.
