Actually I liked all three prospects we drafted. It's just I thought Rozier was crazy at 16. But I call myself out because last week I was thinking what difference does it make where you draft the guy, can he play or not.
I was happy when Hunter was there at 28 and we took him. I wanted one of the two LSU kids and the one we actually needed was there at 33  Jordan Mickey, and we took him also.  3.6 Blocks per game! I can't believe Danny drafted a shot blocker!

If we would have drafted Hunter first I would have some how felt better about based on all this predraft crap.

Logjam at guard. That is all.

But kinda funny how all the trade/draft rumors died down on the latest forum topics after Celtics drafted Terry Rozier. It is now filled with "This sucks", "Danny choked", "fire Ainge", etc lolol  ;D

If the Celtics had drafted Hunter at 16,  Mickey at 28, and Rozier at 33 I think that everybody would be a little happier.

I think that it was a nice draft so far.

More scrubs ...six foot ones ....dime a dozen scrub guards ....at least pick a bunch of 7 ft players ..maybe one will pan out .

I think Danny is senile or lost his freak n  .....mind

These picks are all totally stupid crap ....

Is he trying to get fired ......?

I think so.

I'm not excited about a single pick they made.  This is usually one of my favorite days of the year.  I'm disgusted right now.

Now in hindsight I probably would've gone:

Dekker
Hunter
Mickey (at 33 I don't have a major issue)
Upshaw

or

Portis
Hunter
A. Brown
Upshaw

Would've created better balance. Hunter was undoubtedly a great pick.

My concern is that Danny went with someone who he valued more than anyone else. That means far less trade value that other people available.

Clearly Danny is not afraid of moves like this. Look at the Rondo and Giddens picks, which were both considered major reaches.

Thing is, with all the picks Danny has, he should take risks. So I'm fine with the picks, but I don't think a lack of minutes is good for development.

Nope.

No idea how much DA actually influences our choices re: these picsk, but whether or not we consider it to be him as a primary contributor, or a group as a collective whole, we appear to be a one-trick pony.

I am disappointed we didn't move up, especially with where Winslow fell. And that's fine, I don't know the details, and since we can't know if our offer was a major low-ball, we can't really criticize our front office. But our pick at 16 makes zero sense, and unless he or someone (Smart/AB) is being moved, it is a decision comparable to JJJ and Fab.

Danny did an excellent job.  The Celtics got far last season without many really good athletes.  Just blue collar , hard working style kind of guys.  System is in place now.

This draft he added scorers (Rozier, Hunter and even Thornton) . He added rim protection and a guy you could play as a center when you play small ball in Jordan Mickey.     Many of these guys will likely not make much of an impact in the beginning but in spurts I think will be able to (minus Thornton who is a draft and stash guy (d league or europe)).   In the 2nd half getting more comfortable , see their role increase.

I think there is a decent chance Jerebko is resigned.  Crowder also.  Danny will try to lure Aldridge in, but worse case all we can do is keep trucking.  I'm expecting better years from Sully, KO and Smart next season. More of the same from Zeller , Turner, AB

Do you mean this? I love your posts, but Rozier at 16? On top of that, that we already have multiple taller/longer Roziers? What is his upside? Unless there is a trade in place, that was a pretty significant mistake.

I get we got your boy Mickey, and imo that could very well end up being our best pick. But, man... disappointing me couldn't slide up, and more disappointing with 16. If you see something in Rozier, it was a bad pick (unless we know Smart is out); if you don't see anything in Rozier, it's a bad pick.

Edit: If Smart is out, I'm totally with it. I think he can be as good as Smart, and prior to the thread I suggested trading Smart to move up for WSC and replace him with someone like Grant (who could be a steal in this draft). But if we have nothing in place, I can't understand the perspective that we did well with our best pick.
