Well I just got back home from the draft. We passed on Portis. That is all I can say. After that pick, I was scrolling bleacher report hoping for a trade. It never happened.
ha, ha, ha...that is quite the signature you have there. placed into a single passage you have:

- created an obnoxious visual effect
- a statement that has people questioning your math abilities
- an assertion that is premature, unproven, and a rush to judgement
- confirmation that ainge is a very good drafter in the later part of the draft
- demonstration that you may not be aware that trades involve more than one side
- a rush to conclude that today equals tomorrow (no trade now must mean no trade in the future)
- finishes with a demand that ainge start drafting based upon need, not the bpa; a violation of a fundamental draft strategy.
- to your credit, at least one or two of your assertions are accurate.

ha, ha....that is one busy as hell signature. i am not sure i have ever seen so many questionable statements plopped into one before. how did you manage it?  ;D

patience and the desire to wait and see before passing judgement are not allowed on cb. ;D

I agree. I just posted in another thread:  It's the Internet.  Nows the time to rush to judgment. I could dig up 9 year old threads of myself not wanting to draft Rondo if we all wanted and laugh at those for a while.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Yes, more or less happy.

I would have liked the Celtics to move higher or to swing a trade for a star. Obviously neither happened, but not for lack of trying. I'm particularly happy that Danny didn't overpay simply to move higher. Most draft picks are gambles. I think the smarter way to build is via FA and trades. So, we'll see what Danny can do on that front starting next week.

As to the specific players drafted, I see the pros and cons of each, and will just wait and see. I am intrigued by Rozier. It seems clear that he was a "BPA" type pick, which I think is smart.

I realize that Hunter and Mickey fill "needs" for us, and so people are excited about these. I'm less enthusiastic about these two, but I hope I'm surprised. I know nothing about Marcus Thornton, and suspect he'll be D-League or overseas.
Celtics fan for life.

Sorry but I hate the pick! Sick and tired about hearing of guards that are defensive killers alla Tony Allen. Hated him too, one of the dumbest players we've had. Guards that can't shoot have no place in the current NBA, NONE! I don't want to hear about hawking a guy to death in the back court, pressuring the ball he's the best, I don't want to hear any of that crap! That doesn't work in the NBA and even if you can stop a guy from bringing the ball up the refs will bail him out with a foul 9 out of 10 times. If that is what Danny thinks will help the team he should retire. The NBA wants offense just like all the other pro leagues why is this hard to understand? The NBA favors the offensive player almost every time. Forget about defensive guards that is going against logic.

Also can we ever draft one those euro bigs in the second round, you know the ones San Antonio drafts and 2 years later come in and we all go where did that guy come from?

I'm really beginning to question our drafting ability and strategy.

After a night a sleep, I still feel pretty much the same. Horrible. Really bad guys. I went on YT, tried to check out our guys last night. Rozier looked the best but I don't see him doing much in the NBA. His entire offense is driving in the lane. That just doesn't work in the league with the level of athleticism. If he can develop a consistent shot he's a nice player, unfortunately the odds are against that sort of thing.

But it's OK, I knew once the Pacers had selected Turner we had failed completely. With all our much-ballyhooed "assets" we couldn't land WCS, Turner, or Winslow. Total fiasco...

Seeing all the whining, p---ing, and moaning probably means Danny did a good job.  So yes, happy with the draft.

People bought in way too much to all those stupid mock drafts, pre-draft rumors, and the unholy creation that is Twitter and as a result are disappointed that draft night did not unfold to their preconceived liking.  That's your fault, not Danny's.

By the way, we have concrete proof - on our very roster - that it doesn't exactly matter where a player is drafted, as long as he can play.  His name is Isaiah Thomas.

In order, I found the draft...

1. Surprising. Rozier was not on my radar.
2. Disappointing. We had a golden opportunity, it seems to offer Charlotte or Miami a big package and swipe Winslow. Would Charlotte have taken AB, Kelly and #16?
3. Intriguing. I've warmed up to Rozier, who is a mixed bag, and a PG, but I'll give Danny the benefit of the doubt. And I love the RJ Hunter and Jordan Mickey picks.
4. Gay marriage! Who cares about the draft anyway?

Yes!!!!!!  If......The saying Size Matters may apply to the bedroom but not the modern NBA (see GS Warriors). It helps to have a legit big man manning the center but it isn't the necessity it once was. More and more will the term Combo-Player come into vogue as players who can defend multiple positions, slash/ dish and hit 3's becomes the norm. Up tempo is in!!! With that being said, I think the draft will prove a success IF we can trade Smart and or Sully/Oly and get someone who can score down low with his back to the basket thus creating more spacing for The Steal of the Draft R.J. Hunter. The 30 % 3 point shooting is so misleading. He shot his 3's from NBA range all year which means the extra few feet won't make a difference as it does to the college 3 point specialists who cant hit from more than step from behind the arc. All 4 of the players drafted score in the top of the stats in defensive categories and for ONCE D.A went for ATHLETIC players. Rozier remains a head scratcher, not because he was picked ,but where he was picked. A better defender than Smart and much better at slashing. C's fans will fall in love with Mickey as we may finally have found a 2nd round gem.
The moves in Free Agency will give a better indication as to where this draft ranks but the negativity surrounding players who haven't done ANYTHING  at the pro level is comical. Long way to go but remember, We are in the east!!!!

OK, then I'll go and say that yes I'm happy. My biggest worry was making a big mistake (trading away a lot of value), so on that regard, I'll vote yes for now and it has nothing to do with who we drafted.
