I just had to laugh at the idea that the big master pitch revolves around also bringing in Paul Pierce and Robin Lopez.

Yeah, when considering some of the teammates that other teams could offer, it's hard to envision Love being that excited by Robin Lopez and one year of the Captain.

THIS!! that's a VERY sad group you'd need a your current stars to make the All-Star leap OR consolidate for a 2 near All-Stars. We'd get crushed in the playoffs.

I don't see Love coming here unless we bring in A Gasol, Aldridge or a Jimmy Butler, Khawi Leonard. Those are the bigger names in this free agency. Unless Danny is pitching something for the future with love and he's buying into it doubt he gets giddy over Pierce and robin Lopez instead of Kyrie and Lebron.

Love, Lopez, and Pierce is a pretty sad version of a new Big 3.
 :P

Now, if Danny can get any two of the following, then it will be time to start planning for a playoff run:
Cousins, Aldridge, MGasol, Milsap, Deandre, K Leonard, Butler

Why is that a sad version?

Pierce can still play and Love and Lopez are great players

And what real Celtics fan wouldn't want to see Pierce come back home?

Don't know what some people are thinking!
I'd want PP from 2008-2010 not 5-7 years later. Yes Pierce can still play BUT he's not the force he used to be. Remember PP is good, not great like how he used to be. He was 3rd fiddle on the Wiz.

I agree that it is not the most exciting lineup to sell Love on but the more I thought about it Lopez and Love balance each other pretty good with Love being a scorer (inside and out) and rebounder while Lopez can protect the rim and play great defense.  Pierce would bring a veteran presence but they are still a piece or 2 away which is closer then we are now.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

True, but that team should be one of the top few teams in the East with Love being the focal point on offense.  Assuming Pierce signs a one year deal, they should have cap room again next year and they would still have a slew of draft picks to continue adding to the team.  That could appeal to Love.

True, after PP leaves we have nothing left. Cash strapped and not a pick in the cupboard.  ::)
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think the main selling point would be that Love gets to be the face of the franchise in Boston, Brad Stevens and that they have the assets going forward to surround him with talent.

Bringing in Pierce and Lopez prevents him from playing with all young guys next year.

I'm just still a bit astonished at the Celtics plan to land Love centering on Robin Lopez + Pierce. I think someone was trolling Woj.

One of: Paul Millsap, Lamarcus Ladridge, Kevin Love

Plus

One of: Omer Asik, Robin Lopez

and the Celtics would be an easy playoff team and a legitimate title contender.

Even if you get Koufos instead of Asik or Lopez, the team would still be in good condition.

So Kevin, I know you can stay in Cleveland and have LeBron, Kyrie, and Mozgov but we are prepared to put Robin Lopez, Isaiah Thomas, and Paul Pierce around you and make you the face of an honored franchise.  Why don't you come on over?

Yeah,  I am not sure I buy this one.
