Before you say anything, I'm a big Cousins fan, but I don't want him. He's a top 5 if not top 3 center in the league but he does come with some issues. Lets be honest the Celtics shouldn't have gotten into the playoffs, but we did and it worked in our advantage. It's showing we're developing an amazing young core, why would we break this up. Stop before you start saying, he's one of the best centers in the league so on and so on. We're still rebuilding this team and are almost done. Yes we need a true center, which we might be able to get one if not two legit centers, a scorer/small forward that can be the future, and some back up power forwards/small forwards. Sounds like a lot but between the drafts and free agency very due able without tearing down the team. Yes, right now we can only sign one max free agent which could be a starter such as a Greg Monroe or a LaMarcus Aldridge. If we're able to sign a key starter, next year we'd be able to do the same. With another year of development as a team, maybe a key free agent we'd be able to sign next year, or make bigger trades next year not tearing apart the whole team for one player. Since the talk for Boogie would be our 2 first rounders, possibly the 2 seconders, key players such as Sully, Bradley, Smart, or other players. This is just a thought of saying just lets keep rebuilding, but don't unload the whole team for Boogie. If it'd cost us say a Zeller, K.O. and a 1st and 2nd, yes worth it, but it's not enough for the Kings they feel.
Hate to break it to you, but our core is not amazing. In fact, FAR from it.
Cousins is a franchise player and someone you ABSOLUTELY give up anyone to get.
My lord, why does it seem some people would rather keep this subpar team together and keep losing rather than improve with better players?
We are not winning a championship with this roster, people.
In fact, maybe with the exception of Smart, I can guarantee there will NOT be a single player from this current roster on our next championship team.
How has Cousins worked out for Sactown? If he is so amazing why are they in the lottery year after year?
I'm not saying he wouldn't be our best player, but it isn't like he instantly changes our franchise. I'd give up four firsts for him including one of the Brooklynn picks and Sully, but I wouldn't do one of those our 3 best players and 3 picks deals.
Modified, I guess I shouldn't do two things at once, not sure how my post got included in the quotes.
Sacramento's issues go well beyond an inability to win basketball games -- something that you can't chastise Cousins for while giving, say, Love a free pass. Sacramento makes Minnesota look like Houston as far as front offices go.
