What is this guy a five? Could he start for us like that ready?

Hes  7' in shoes so yea... However he is still young, just turned 19 so there might be some growing room.. like Vonleah in Charlotte but I think he would be more NBA ready... Has an incredible jumper for a big man and I saw he has greatly improved his long range game too..
I think Myles will be a much faster contributor than Vonleh. I mean I like Vonleh but he gained 35lbs of muscle over the summer going into Indiana. Thats just not possible IMO.

Turner has always had a nice stroke even from 3, but what you see now is that his stance is tightening up a bit...which is a very good thing. He also has a deadly turn around jumper and shoots 84% from ft

I'd be thrilled.

Turner would have probably gone top 5, maybe higher, if he played anywhere but Texas.

It pains me as a Longhorn to say you're right.

Let's get him.
I didn't know you liked Turner..... ;)

I think Ainge is targeting a few guys, getting a gage on what it'll take to trade up and figuring out their most likely outcome.

Just going on what I've read and heard (which isn't exactly reliable) I think they like Winslow, Hezejonia, WCS, Johnson and Turner. Those guys are in range, fill positions of need and have pretty strong upside. Depending on how much it would take to get up to where those guys would fall, if they even could, Ainge will only make a decision like that if the cost is less than what he thinks that guy could become.

Turner is probably the most likely of that group available for a "value deal". There's a slight chance he could fall down to us at 16 even. I've heard all good things about his running problem so far, and even though he's a project that needs a few years development, I think this C's team is one of the few in the league that could actually offer him a few decent minutes. His shot-blocking skills is one of the aspects of his game that is NBA ready, and we have such a need there he could certainly get 10mpg if they wanted to go that route. I think in the right situation that kid could become a truly excellent player.

I hope this is true! I have more faith in Turner than WCS, and next year will be a better draft for SFs. Let's get him!

I agree!

I'd be disappointed in WTCS, thrilled with Turner.

But I think there are some good 3s this year--Justin Anderson, outside of the top 10, for example. Maybe they're also really hopeful for James Young.

Like Kentucky?  ;)

Where is all this Turner love coming from? I personally like him but I thought no one liked him here, especially due to the WCS fascination. I think he's farther from contributing than WCS but I also think he has a much higher ceiling. Better offensively and just as good, maybe better defensively.

We don't have to give up as much to get him as we would WCS too which could be good.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

We need a center and we would not have to trade as much to trade up and get him. Plus he can shoot, protect the rim, and injuries don't seem to be a concern any more.

I think Turner is the 4th best big in this draft--after the top two and Porzi. Then I guess you go with WTCS ahead of Portis, but Turner has more blocking, rebounding, and offensive potential.

I'd be quite happy if we picked him up. A Bradley for Hood and Turner trade would be PERFECT.

i agree. for the celtics to both make the playoffs AND be able to draft turner, that would be a great season. turner seems to be very athlete and has a good outside shot, which CBS will like.

the only problem is he is thin, but i am sure the celtics staff...and dare i say sully... could give him lessons on how to bulk up.  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Surprised Turner hasn't moved up the boards more heading into the draft. I expected more upwards movement for him after those good reports about his gait and running.

I think the teams in the 6-10 range are either more enamored with the defense and athleticism which WCS offers or they are going for one of the SFs. If I had to bet on it, I'd day Turner goes 11th or 12th, hopefully to us...

This would be an ideal scenario. There doesn't seem to be anyone that would address our needs at 16 or 28, so I feel like offering those picks to Charlotte for #9 would be feasible. Charlotte needs shooting and that can be found where our current picks are. Turner can play both sides of the ball and is a smart kid, very well spoken with a good head on his shoulders.

Well I do not know if I agree that Turner is the 5th best big in draft. His stroke is better than anyone else, even though his ft is 84% which is same as Towns, Turner has work to do on his stance when he shoots; which I believe will make his shot the best from "KG range" and all over.
Also I see him having the most potential to be the best athlete out of the group, excluding WCS(2years older), but I am basing his athletic potential on the development he has made to his running and jumping in a short time. According to the docs his condition is correctible and he should be able to add serious inches to his vert.
I guess a big reason people view him lower is because his team/coach were a horrible fit for him. They had zero outside shooting and teams would just pack it in.
