This would be an ideal scenario. There doesn't seem to be anyone that would address our needs at 16 or 28, so I feel like offering those picks to Charlotte for #9 would be feasible. Charlotte needs shooting and that can be found where our current picks are. Turner can play both sides of the ball and is a smart kid, very well spoken with a good head on his shoulders.
Since they traded Lance and kept Big Al, I think they want to compete right now and are looking for 2 way players that can shoot and have proven themselves in the league.

Nice. Rumor made up by a real gm guy.  If this rumor was true , the celtics really want this to be public. Makes sense

Quote
Danny Cardinali - Any chance Turner falls to Milwaukee at 17?

Steve Kyler - Boston is trying to move up to insure they get him, so at 16 they'd have him.

Kyler may be the most active twitter presence among BB writers who follow the draft.

Turner's a project with more upside than WCS as a two way player. Higher ceiling, but a lower floor as WCS has an elite skill. There are plenty of questions about WCS, some of which were because he played out of position, but there are questions about Turner who has to unlearn the way he runs apparently. I'd be on board with taking a flyer on Turner as a 2 way player. Rick Barnes is a great recruiter, sub-par coach.

Holy Crap. I just looked at hus per 40 mins stats. cause he only played 22 mins.

 18 points 12 rebounds 4.7 blocks .455% FG .840% FT

19 years old. Coach is a moron. Sign me up. We need a big. I'll take him. His touch is unreal for a big guy. And the shotblocking, rare player.

And they had no outside shooters on that team so defenses would cram the middle.

I'd be quite happy if we picked him up. A Bradley for Hood and Turner trade would be PERFECT.

I think that's where things get interesting.

Ainge loves Bradley. He's a leader on this team, a good young player on a good deal who Ainge won't just give away. But Turner is a top 10 talent who's dropping because of that gait. If all the info you have says he'll be fine and he's there at 12, would you be willing to make that trade?

Depends how much they like Young. A lot of potential versatility on that team. Ainge would be thinking long and hard about that trade. Just think about this..

Smart/Thomas
Turner/Hood
Crowder/Young/Turner
Sullinger/Olynyk
Zeller/Turner/Olynyk.

Smart can play the 1 and the 2, Turner can play the 1, 2 and 3, Hood can play the 2 or 3, Young can do the same, Crowder can play the 2, 3 and the small-ball 4. KO can play the 4 and the 5. Your hoping Myles Turner can get there as well. And there's still a lot of directions that team can go in both FA and trades. It would make sense for all involved, I'm just worried about losing AB in that locker room.

meh. I'd be happy with it if we only payed 16+28, but Turner doesn't really excite me. Not athletic, not fluid, not strong. Weak offensive rebounding, passing, finishing. Considerable skill, too, but a lot of question marks, and not a ton of upside with his B+ tools.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd be super happy if we ended up snagging Turner after such a disappointing draft position for our team.
He's a project that has serious NBA potential.
Does anyone have the most recent workout video of him?
Looked very good....

His per 40 stats are very impressive for a 19 year old stretch big.
He's got potential in the post and on the defensive end.
This is a player that hopefully we can grab before he takes the step to becoming a man and a serious NBA talent.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I like the idea.
But at this point in the draft season, I take everything with a

Celtics fan for life.

What would targeting Turner mean for the direction of the team?  He doesn't turn 20 until next year and, to use an easy comparison, Vonleh as basically the same age could barely get off the bench for a terrible Hornets team.  If you consider that it will take at least 16 and 28 to get him, and probably more, would that indicate Ainge is settling in for a longer rebuild?

I feel that the reason Vonleh didn't get off of the bench because he had a coach that could care less for player development. Steve Clifford played his "best" players to get the best record to save himself from getting fired. Same case in Orlando.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I actually don't like this...

I'm not a huge fan of his game, but would welcome him with open arms regardless.

I hope we're just smoke screening to lure teams into trying to bargain with us.
