I'm honestly not all that interested in Aldridge for some reason... not going to complain if we get him, but for some reason he's not exciting me.
Rather go with Monroe if the chance is there.
Aldridge is the best free agent on the market.
Acquire him and the Celts take a HUGE step in the right direction.
The idea is to go forward, not be stuck in the same position they're in now.
Who said anything about being stuck in the same position?
I am just saying Aldridge moves the needle for the Celts in a big way.
Monroe is a good player and I would love to have him, but I don't think he would make the impact LMA would.
In other words, we need that difference maker that KG was and I think LMA is that type of guy, otherwise we are just kind of spinning our tires.
Play wise, I think the impact will be fairly comparable. I like Monroe because he's a better passer, plays on the block more (something we lack), and I think he's more willing and ready to play Center for us. And cheaper.
I also think that Monroe's usage with us would increase from what he did in Detroit.
As an attraction, Aldridge brings a higher cache, so might help recruit other players more so than Monroe. But over the long-run, and we're currently in it for the long-run, I think Monroe will be the better choice for us. If we can replicate a quick super team, then I might start leaning towards Aldridge instead. But I'm not counting on that, it's a risky proposition for me to try and go that route.
But I'm not sweating over this. If we get Aldridge, I'll be ecstatic, I'm just not currently feeling all that interested in him for some reason for the reasons already mentioned in my other posts. I have some serious doubts about future performance.
