  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
So this was posted on Real GM earlier today by 'Flightsisters' who is a poster on RealGM (who is not just a random troll). Says he was was at Reggie Wong park (the courts) playing with some buddies and the Celtics were doing some marketing filming with some kids dressed up in uniforms.
At first they thought it was just normal community relations/sales stuff- which you'll see them sometimes doing in town.
But at the end they put an Aldridge jersey on the tallest kid and made him play 1v1 while filming.
So yeah, the Celtics seem to have been making a video of LaMarcus Aldridge being represented in a Celtics Jersey with his name and #12.
This is pretty normal when recruiting but it's cool nonetheless. Danny is going all in!

Was going to make a thread but since it's just "speculation" as of the moment I decided this best belonged in here:

I was playing ball at the Reggie Wong court in Boston today and the court next to me was taken up by a young group of boys playing basketball. It wasn't real basketball as everything was determined by the camera crew filming it. There was two professional cameras filming 10 boys routinely doing the same clip with all the boys wearing celtics fear of sorts. The filmers/staff all had celtics stuff on as well. At first I thought this was a boston is A brotherhood like commercial.

However at the end they made two players go one one, with the tallest kid there (age 14) wearing a celtics lamarcus Aldridge jersey. Number and all. I wonder if Danny and the crew are making a video in preparation for a pitch to LMA. They only let the Aldridge kid play offense. It seems the celtics priority, despite his age is LMA first and foremost.
Take it for what I saw. Thoughts?

Hope it's good.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Hopefully they'll make one for Love as well.  ;)

I like it! I think I prefer Love to LMA (and I don't think they can play together), but LMA is hardly a bad consolation prize!

Much rather LaMarcus. So versatile. So much more rare. So necessary in Boston.

Pretty much every rumor you see on RealGM are total hogwash.  Lot of frauds there who pretend to be insiders... many of them are well respected.  Nobody can directly vouche for any of them.

But this "rumor" is such a waste of time that I actually buy it.   There's a 100% chance we'll go after LaMarcus Aldridge.   That means it's perfectly plausible we'd make a recruiting video for him.  Sure, why not.  We don't need some wacky story about a film crew to know that Boston will 100% make an offer to LaMarcus... so sure, I'm on board with it.

I mean seriously, if Boston didn't make an offer to Aldridge, there's something very very wrong with our front office.  We'll go after pretty much every big name free agent.  That doesn't mean they will come here.

Hope we draft well, whether we move up or not.

What if this wasn't a "recruiting" video, but an introduction of LaMarcus Aldridge to the Celtics fan base video?!

I can dream its already done.

I'm honestly not all that interested in Aldridge for some reason... not going to complain if we get him, but for some reason he's not exciting me.

Rather go with Monroe if the chance is there.

Why? Aldridge is pretty much the superior player in every aspect.

Nothing to do with not liking him, I just have a feeling that his days as a PF are numbered and a decline may be on the horizon. His last playoffs were terrible, it was against Memphis, but it does give me some hesitation. Also, his price tag will be higher than the less experienced Max free-agents.

Past two seasons have seen a decline his shooting efficiency, which is his bread and butter, so it is concerning.

@Celtics4ever speak for yourself, your obsession with Sully makes one wonder when you find the time to focus on someone else.

I think that is more plausible than it being a recruiting video for him.

That makes a lot more sense to me than it being used as some hokey recruiting tool.

LMA is either going to Texas or Portland. Boston is a non starter. He is also far too old for this team. Save the money for when the kids become good and tank for a few more seasons. Try to swing both picks to steal Embiid since Philly might be inclined to deal him.

I agree LMA is to old for this team but that doesn't mean have to tank I prefer to just find younger talent that's why I'd prefer Love. But why would we want Greg Oden err I mean Embiid? ???
