I'm still a little torn on Portis
He seems to have improved his game since college ended which might impact what he is going to deliver on the next level. I'd still be OK with Ainge picking him if there isn't a better player available (obviously
).
Still hoping Kelly Oubre falls to us though
!
Portis is a good defender who can switch out and guard the perimeter.
He averaged 1.5 blocks per game and 8 rebound per in college.
He hit .365% of his 3 point attempts and shot .737% from the line.
These stats indicate that he is more well rounded and could be as good or better than both sully and Oly.
He stands near 6'11 and has +7' reach. He should be able to guard the center spot.
While not a prototypical shot blocker he displays a defensive tenacity and a hyper competitive will to compete on the defensive end.
He may not be as skilled as Towns or have as great a defensive impact as WCS but he is a multi talented, versatile player with a nasty streak.
Just the kind of player CBS seems to like.
We could do a lot worse with the 16th pick.
