Woj just tweeted that the Knicks pick will be available .

Ahaha ;D. Phil's given up, already, lol ;D? Welcome to our world, jackass ;D.

Is a guarantee of #4 this year worth us giving up two to-be-determined 1sts from the Nets?

Im the only one who thinks Heat, it would be just the Celtics luck.

I thought of that, too, but it had to be the Lakers.  It's like they're the league's default setting in the lottery, lol ;D.

Meanwhile, I'm convinced that the machine has been programmed so as to not accept our lottery balls.  I believe the official policy is to make sure that ours are made of lead ;) ::) ;D. *facepalm*

Hey, until they showed Minny's card for the No. 1 pick, I was still legitimately concerned that Cleveland would sneak in there again.  ;D

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
All you pro tankers. The Knicks did a good job of that this year, and they fell BACKWARDS!

So now they can trade their pick to put another star next to melo or choose from Okafur,  Russell, mudiay, winslow or Porzingis. How disappointing for them...they would much rather swap situations with us right?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Hahahaha Knicks.

Philly gets the 3rd pick again, too.

Yet another big man goes to Minnesota to waste the first half decade plus of his career.

::) Not with that core.

Dang, when do the 6ers get the picks from LA and Mia they didn't get this season?

They get LA's next year if not top 3, Miami's next year if not top 10.
They'll also get OKC's pick next year if not top 15.

we're stuck in NBA purgatory, while the lakers stack on talent

at least we have a winning tradition though! tradition of getting swept in the first round and having below .500 record.

The Celtics have a bright future with tons of draft picks and young talent.

I really don't understand the negativity.

  • GOT IT!!!
DA pulls off a trade for Cousins no one will shed a tear about Okafor or Towns on the Lakers. We can always pray.

The lottery has not changed my mindset on the rebuild one bit. Ainge has potential trade partners to improve the roster this summer.

A rapidly aging Melo and Russell might win the Knicks 25 games next year, and Melo's only getting older.

In a situation where the worst the Knicks could do is pick #5, they got #4.  It's almost as bad a result as they could get.

We are not stuck anywhere right now. We have a lot of cap space and nearly everyone on our team is young, improving, and tradeable, plus we have a ton of picks coming up and a creative GM and a great young coach.

There are so many different directions this team could go and purgatory is one of them. However, we are not stuck there yet.

Option 1. We convince an elite FA or 2 to sign with us we move the picks to add another piece and we return to contention
Option 2. We sign 1 or 2 young FAs like Harris, Monroe, or Middleton, we make small trades ie one of Sully KO zeller to move up, we continue the rebuild with the hopes of next year being a springboard year
Option 3. We move Smart, Sully, Zeller/KO to move up/around in draft and return to lotto next year with more top 10 talent
Option 4. We stand pat adding a couple ET type pieces and selecting high potential guys in the draft
The list goes on and on. Teams with the type of flexibility we have are never stuck anywhere. We just have to make sure Ainge doesnt waste the flexibility without seeing a big improvement in the product.

Thats a good point. I know the situation was unique but KLove cost the #1 pick in a better draft. The Knicks wont be able to get a guy like Cousins with selection #4 unless he demands a trade and I dont see him doing this. I expect they could get a good player with 4 but not the type of guy who launches them to contender status. If they take Mudiay or Russel, they could be on to something, but Melo doesnt have all that much time left as a superstar.

They are now relying on nailing down a star in FA. Which could happen, but I wouldnt count on it.

Those are unprotected, right?  It also depends on Brook Lopez, who is looking into possibly signing with Milwaukee, lol ;D. Such a departure would make the Nets incredibly worse, but even if he doesn't bolt to the bucks, I would never trade an unprotected pick.  They're so rare, and the only person from whom you can get them is Zeke, ahaha ;D.

I don't regret we made the playoffs, but I don't understand people who are so anti-draft saying things like "it's a crapshoot" and all that. To an extent yes, because you don't always get superstars/all stars. Not every player turns out to be an MVP candidate. But high draft picks do give rebuilds a shot in the arm, whether as a player or as a trade chip.

I don't think any GM is drooling over KO or Sully, but Marcus Smart is the brightest spot on our roster and he's the product of a high draft pick. The Lakers, whom everyone had written off, is suddenly looking like they have a future with Randle and Okafor (most likely).

I think a lot of the more extreme sentiment on both sides is reactive and compounded, which makes for some alternating 'TEAMS WILL NEVER BE GOOD UNLESS THEY LOSE EVERY GAME OVER THE NEXT SEVEN YEARS' and 'THE DRAFT IS TOTAL ANARCHY' posts.
