Jay King said C's met with Tyus Jones, Kelly Oubre, and RJ Hunter.

Also, Ainge isn't at the combine (he's sick), so Stevens is handling all the interviews, which I find an interesting side note.

Yeah, Stevens was interviewed by Katz during the combine. Stevens is quite familiar with the majority, if not all of these guys, since he's probably recruited many of them for years. I think Ainge has leaned on him heavily when it comes to drafting players since he signed Stevens given his familiarity with the players.

Food for thought...

At 6-6/235 with a BF% of 5 and a wingspan of nearly 7 feet,  Justin Anderson had a vert of 43 inches. He shot 45% from college 3's this season.

I mean is this the prototypical 3 and D guy or what?

This team is struggling to find center material .......he is big dude that can battle the massive other centers in the league ....which everybody has one except ......the Celtics  ::)

If he can get his life together, talk about a major steal at the 5 position for the C's. Upshaw is a physical freak [maybe a mental freak?(kicked out of school twice)]. He fills a major need but would not be surprised if he is gone or we do not take him

Sign me up...Love this kid. Only question about him before this season was his range...He improved big-time in that department. Team leader, very good athlete, improved shot and can defend...I'll be praying he falls to that Clips pick on draft night. Wouldn't mind seeing the C's move that Clippers pick and another pick to move up a few spots to grab him. That's how strongly I feel about Anderson.

Waiting to hear Myles Turner's name...

Thanks for the thread btw.

You wont

Danny clearly is after the athletes this time around.

Not really. Upshaw isn't exactly an athlete, but he can provide interior defense, like Turner can.

For his size he is an athlete. He is not quite at drummonds level but has an edge vs tyler zeller

Smooth athlete. Turner mobility is a concern. He doesnt jump very well either.

I compare him to dakari johnson in terms of athleticism but cant run as well

I think you really need to watch this..

Wow, his shot is incredibly smooth for a big. His shot even looks smoother and more consistent than KO's, who I believe will end up being one of the best shooting bigs in the game at some time during his career.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

No impressed with Turner still. Lacks explosiveness. Sounds like a good kid.

I would not be devastated if Turner was chosen at 16, but i rather draft Wood or Upshaw.

Really impressed by Turner's workout video. From watching him move it looks like he has already made a lot of progress in his running style.

Even without being terrible mobile in his rookie year he still had a higher percentage of shots blocked than Towns. I think he will end up being an elite shotblocker with a deadly jump shot. I would be happy if we traded up into the top 10 to take him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm told Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein interviewed with the Celtics yesterday, and unsurprisingly made an impression as only Willie can.

Each team is allowed to interview 18 players over three days this week. The teams submit a list of players they would like to talk to, and then the NBA assigns the final group. It can be an early way to get an idea of a franchise’s interest in a player, but it is also true that teams often focus on prospects they might not be able to bring to their cities for individual workouts.

The Celtics had a five-man delegation sitting front and center for Thursday’s five-on-five scrimmages here. Stevens was flanked by assistant general manager Mike Zarren, director of player personnel Austin Ainge, director of scouting Dave Lewin, and assistant coach Walter McCarty. President of basketball operations Danny Ainge was not in attendance because he did not feel well. Austin Ainge said his father was sending him frequent text messages while watching the combine on television.

Ainge's strategy seems unorthodox to me
He seems to be showing interest to a lot of the high lottery prospects like Winslow, WCS and Stanley Johnson
We would probably be able to trade up to 12-15 but by then these guys would be gone

Also if we were to trade up to 5-10 , i feel like we may over pay too much for it in giving up one of the Brooklyn picks

If it was trading our 16 plus Bradley, young, olynyk or sully
I would be fine with that

I think it makes perfect sense. In all likelihood, the guys you mentioned won't be in Boston for workouts, so the only time we'll get that 1 on 1 time would be during the combine. However, players expected to be in our ranges (16 and 28) will be more than happy to visit Boston for obvious reasons. If we're able to move up, and never had an interview, we would be selecting blindly, or at least without a good feel for a players mental makeup.

So if we do move up we'll be selecting from players we've already interviewed such as:

Winslow (likely the highest ranked player here)
Cauley-Stein
Turner
Johnson
Oubre (likely the lowest ranked player here)

Again, to me it makes a lot of sense.
