Ainge's strategy seems unorthodox to me
He seems to be showing interest to a lot of the high lottery prospects like Winslow, WCS and Stanley Johnson
We would probably be able to trade up to 12-15 but by then these guys would be gone
Also if we were to trade up to 5-10 , i feel like we may over pay too much for it in giving up one of the Brooklyn picks
If it was trading our 16 plus Bradley, young, olynyk or sully
I would be fine with that
I think it makes perfect sense. In all likelihood, the guys you mentioned won't be in Boston for workouts, so the only time we'll get that 1 on 1 time would be during the combine. However, players expected to be in our ranges (16 and 28) will be more than happy to visit Boston for obvious reasons. If we're able to move up, and never had an interview, we would be selecting blindly, or at least without a good feel for a players mental makeup.
So if we do move up we'll be selecting from players we've already interviewed such as:
Winslow (likely the highest ranked player here)
Cauley-Stein
Turner
Johnson
Oubre (likely the lowest ranked player here)
Again, to me it makes a lot of sense.
