I wouldn't be surprised if Gerald Wallace's contract gets stretched, with the increasing salary cap the effect will be minimal if anything.
why stretch a contract in its final year? makes no sense for 2 reasons:
1) as a final-year contract and for the amount he makes, his contract makes the perfect salary fill if Danny is able to make a deal for a good player already making decent money. need that salary balance in that type of deal.
2) it's an expiring deal so even if a deal doesn't present itself, he's completely off the books at the end of the year. why drag that on for 2 more years after that? C's won't be contending next year no matter what Danny does. Only reason to clear part of Wallace's deal off the books for next year is if that's needed to get the final piece of a championship puzzle. Danny's still working on piecing together the edges of the puzzle, not the last piec.
