That's fair -- it's possible I'm being unreasonably pessimistic about our current prospects. I'm wrong as often as not, but I just don't see it right now, and haven't heard anything to convince me otherwise yet.

Again, is playing .600 ball for more than a third of the season (19-12 I think off hand) after redoing their roster not enough? Yes in the beginning the season they were a terrible team, but trotting out the tired under .500 argument is really just highlighting that they were really bad with Rondo and Green in the beginning of the season. Is that what you want to do?
Strength of schedule has something to do with the record. I do think we are closer to an even 500 team with IT4 on the roster. But we are not a 600 win percentage team if you played our roster out for the whole season.  Thanks for the  ;D

Edit - 600 would make us 47-31 right now. There's no way you can possibly think we are a 47-31 team.

I mean in the East who knows? I do agree our earlier season schedule had some tougher and a few more games against the western conference. However, I will point out in December when were still playing Rondo and Green we were losing to Orlando, Charlotte, the Knicks and Brooklyn. We had a couple of more losses in early January to those same clubs. We have been really good for the most part at being the bad teams in the second half of the season so it is certainly reasonable to think we would not have lost all those games if we had this squad the whole year.

Couple that with the fact that we were losing some really close games (we are something like 3-6 in overtime this year) and are now playing better and it is not laughable to think we win 5 or 6 more games if we had this roster the whole season. Since we are probably going to end up at 38 or 39 wins that takes us to 45. That makes the playoffs just about any year in the East. Even in the all powerful west the 8th seed is going to end up with 45 wins.
Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking to me.

I think Smart and IT4 are legitimate building blocks but other then those two, I agree with your assessment.

If they can get a playoff berth this year, it will represent a good opportunity to start convincing people.

He's not very popular around here these days, but I'm throwing Kelly Olynyk's name into that mix.  I think Jae Crowder could be a keeper as well.

DOS

I'm well familiar with the phrase/question and what it means. I think its offensive and I know a lot of other people do to. Again there are better ways to express yourself than using that kind of material. As someone that was very recently reminded of this, I would think you would steer clear of this kind of material. There are plenty of ways you can express yourself. Maybe this particular comment isn't so bad as to be deleted or forbidden but I would think you could find a better less abrasive way to express yourself. My girlfriend has worked in gender-based violence for her career and I assure you there are a lot better topics to use for sayings or to try and be witty or clever.

I don't think so -- bad teams make the bottom of the Eastern conference every year. Look at the Bucks or the Bobcats -- I wasn't convinced that any of those rosters were "better" because they managed to scrape up 35-40 wins. See for yourself:

Not a whole lot of 'bright futures' to be found at the bottom half of the east in recent memory.

Now, if the C's manage to pull off a run like we had in 2002, then maybe there's something there. But just making the playoffs? Nah.

If you're familiar with what the phrase means then you know it isn't an abrasive usage. People refer to basketball as a "war" all the time -- should we stop out of concern for those of us who may have family members that suffer from PTSD or have died in combat?

So, while I appreciate the life advice, I really don't care about what you have to say on my vernacular, particularly if it isn't breaking any CB forum rules.  :-*

When did you stop beating your wife?

You've already had threads get multiple posts deleted very recently cause of your wife beating humor and jokes.  Lets not get back into that. Find a better way to make your points. It is not appropriate for the board.

That's not a joke or humor. And, in fact, I think you'll find that particular phrase is CB appropriate, or at least relevant:

Thanks for the moral shakedown, though. ;)

To clarify, Jeff doesn't like the phrase, regardless of its origins.  Thus, this specific phrase from our rules:

Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification.

A loaded question is a loaded question, regardless.

Like I said, it's an opportunity.

That doesn't mean that all of a sudden they'll convince us that this roster as currently constructed will be a titleist in three or four years.

I don't think that.  I do, however, think there may be some keepers, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in a playoff series.

That's all.
