I kind of figured he'd play tonight at home instead of at Boston on Sunday. Didn't expect him to miss both games, so of course he picked to play at home vs at Boston. Hopefully Detroit and Washington can do us a favor tonight and beat the Pacers and Nets.

John Wall sitting tonight for Wizards...lol.

The last time Cleveland stomped us we didn't have Isaiah right? I don't remember, if we did he was just coming back from his injury

No, Thomas was healthy.

We didn't have Olynyk or Sullinger though.
I thought he played but was coming back from his injury
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

Good.  If the Celtics need the best players on the other teams to sit out in order to make it into the postseason, they don't belong there anyway.

agreed.

Regarding the post made by Rakulp and MikeJelly-

I agree with almost that entire post but it's not that the Celtics are just "considered" to be the lesser team, we are the lesser team-by any standard of measurement.

I hope we play a good game and let's see what happens.  If this is the last regular season game we lose, I think we still make the playoffs.

When Lebron takes a jump shot, someone should slip under him spraining his ankle, like he did to Danny Granger in the playoff series a few years ago.

This is a little silly and not what is actually happening. We could make arguments like this if every team was playing each other without healthy scratches, but that is not the case. I think it is very fair to want the Celtics to get the same advantages that other teams the Celtics are competing against are receiving. For example, the Nets picked up a relatively easy win this week because Portland left their top players in Oregon on a road trip. Tonight they apparently get to play the Wizards without their best player as a scratch for rest. Wanting the Celtics to have a level playing feel where they catch some breaks with healthy scratches just the teams they are competing against is more than fair. If you want to make the argument that you want the Celtics to be so far superior to these other teams that they should catch breaks, the Celtics shouldn't, and the Celtics should still make it... well that is a whole different animal...

To clarify: The point (for me, I won't speak for Pho) has very little to do with the standings insofar as the particulars of our record against Brooklyn/Washington/Charlotte/etc. are concerned and much more to do with the quality of the Celtics play in securing wins.

I don't really care if we make the playoffs or not -- I like watching the Celtics, and I prefer to watch them win, but I harbor no illusions about this squad being in serious contention for a championship, or even an appearance in the second round. Beating a LeBron-less Cleveland team to help secure a playoff spot moves the needle very little for me.

I would think if you enjoy watching the Celtics play getting to see an additional 4 or 5 games on national television and seeing what kinds of adjustments Brad Stevens makes when playing the same team 4 or 5 times in a row would have a lot of appeal.

If I wanted to watch overmatched teams lose over and over again I'd watch the NCAA more regularly.

That would have some appeal. But if the Celtics get into the playoffs because other teams rested their starters, then I would rather have the better draft pick to improve our chances next year.

Your comments don't add up then. You just said you enjoying watching the Celtics and they have been overmatched for years. At least be consistent.

Everyone is resting their starters against every team around the NBA. The Nets are getting breaks left and right.... that was kind of the whole point. Just to have a level playing field.
