That's fair -- it's possible I'm being unreasonably pessimistic about our current prospects. I'm wrong as often as not, but I just don't see it right now, and haven't heard anything to convince me otherwise yet.
If they can get a playoff berth this year, it will represent a good opportunity to start convincing people.
I don't think so -- bad teams make the bottom of the Eastern conference every year. Look at the Bucks or the Bobcats -- I wasn't convinced that any of those rosters were "better" because they managed to scrape up 35-40 wins. See for yourself:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/Not a whole lot of 'bright futures' to be found at the bottom half of the east in recent memory.
Now, if the C's manage to pull off a run like we had in 2002, then maybe there's something there. But just making the playoffs? Nah.

I'm well familiar with the phrase/question and what it means. I think its offensive and I know a lot of other people do to. Again there are better ways to express yourself than using that kind of material. As someone that was very recently reminded of this, I would think you would steer clear of this kind of material. There are plenty of ways you can express yourself. Maybe this particular comment isn't so bad as to be deleted or forbidden but I would think you could find a better less abrasive way to express yourself. My girlfriend has worked in gender-based violence for her career and I assure you there are a lot better topics to use for sayings or to try and be witty or clever.
If you're familiar with what the phrase means then you know it isn't an abrasive usage. People refer to basketball as a "war" all the time -- should we stop out of concern for those of us who may have family members that suffer from PTSD or have died in combat?
So, while I appreciate the life advice, I really don't care about what you have to say on my vernacular, particularly if it isn't breaking any CB forum rules.
