Yes, Frank the Tank outplayed Okafor last night, but to me the lesson from that was not that Kam is going to be a great pro. He will be decent, for sure, but his limitations out there athletically were also pretty obvious.

The real lesson, folks:  Towns is going to be a much better pro than Okafor.  He was already starting to over-take him for the first spot in the mock drafts.  That will get solidified across the board.  Also, don't be surprised to see Okafor slip below 2nd in some drafts.  I still like him, but, his defensive limitations really came through last night.

Neither will be on the board for us, and that's OK. I'm not wowed by either but if either fell to 15 you prob have to take.them

While I respect your opinion I absolutely think both will be on the board. Kaminsky could be a close call but I think Dekker's weaknesses showed that championship game. Dekker will go 17-19

This. I love Okafor and would probably still strongly consider taking him if I was a GM with the #1 pick, but he currently has limitations. He has great moves but still needs to work on them. If he develops, I think he could be a Big Al type, but I don't think he'll be that way as soon as he plays a game. That can impede teams' development if they are going in a more pace-and-space direction (like the Celtics). You can still work around that for sure (like the Spurs with Duncan), but is it worth it when you have a guy in Towns who, similarly, needs development but whose skillset would fit into the system more smoothly?

All that said, I would still be ecstatic if the Celtics took Okafor (if by a snowball's chance down-low they win the lottery). What stood out to me the most last night, though, was how out of shape Okafor is. I knew he was a poor hedger and he ices pick-and-rolls often, but he legitimately struggled to get up and down the floor for stretches, even on extended rest (due to his fould trouble).

Then he's a scrub and we don't want him..

Dekker was a better sophomore player than Kaminsky but hasn't improved a lot as a junior.  Kaminsky has shown major improvement every single year in college and just won the Wooden award.  It honestly looks like his floor is a better version of KO.

I can't predict what will happen with Dekker but I'd bet money that it Kaminsky lasts until the 15th pick or so, he will turn out to be a better NBA player than at least 5 or 6 of the guys picked ahead of him.

Mike

KO was arguably better than Kaminsky in his senior year statistically. KO tore college up.

The difference between KO and Frank is that KO went from being useless one season to unstoppable the next and then went to the NBA.  Frank showed significant and steady progress through all four years of college.

I wouldnt take any of those guys. Kaminsky and Decker are redundant as to what we already have, and Okafor is overrated. He goes left...slams into his man, then goes up. not gonna work in the NBA for long, especially with no shot and terrible FTs.  Pass.

I would rather use the picks (and/or Bradley and Sully/KO to get a somewhat established (longer) defender at the  C  and then sign Middleton at the wing.

We can still go young without having too many raw draft picks.

Kaminsky looked like Kevin McHale?  You mean the actor from Glee, right? Give me a break.

Some of his pivots certainly did down low. Not on defense, but he was worming spinning and upfaking and doing the slippery eel.

I doubt your old enough to remember, McHale, if you watch Glee.  But I think that tells us all about you I care to know.
