I think we just saw that if Bron was on the Sixers it wouldn't make a difference. Tanking...it almost never works

It hasn't worked because the draft and player evaluation is/has and will probably always be an inexact science.
It makes perfect sense from the perspective that
1) There are X amount of players to be drafted
2) Some subset of X will be more successful than others
3) Given that , it's better to have a shot at picking from All of X than X-3 or 5 or 10 or 13 or 29
a team should attempt to gain the highest possible chance of choosing from all of X
Does it work? No, but not because the logic isn't sound but because player evaluation isn't sound.
This is why IMHO The Ainge method IS sound because it has parallel roads to improve the team with lots of different on and off ramps.
