While I don't wish any player injuries, and Embiid seems like a nice dude - I HATE THE 76RS!!!!

I hate what they are doing to the game of basketball. They have taken a flaw in the system and exploited it to the max. They are making a mockery a sport I love and the great franchise they once were, and I wish them nothing but the worst.

It has gotten to the point where I hope the Lakers get a top 5 pick so they don't send them their pick.

I hope they stay in the Celler for 20 years as a warning to all other clubs from the gods of basketball.

They're literally following Ainge's strategy, you realize that right?

That's not what 'literally' means.

I'll correct it...

He's following the same plan as Danny Ainge.

Embid will be a stud in the NBA once he starts playing.  Right up there with Anthony Davis.

In other words, if you were thinking of trading for Embiid, stay far away!

You remind me of David Cross's sketch

How are the following Ainge's plan? Ainge is doing everything he can to make this team better without sacrificing too much future flexibility. How could trading for Isaiah Thomas be considered tanking? How could trading MCW for Isiah Caanan be considered anything but tanking?

They got a gem in KJ McDaniels in the 2nd round, and they tossed him for nothing...

Good grief this is like calling Harold Miner Baby Jordan after he had a good half season. Embiid has some really nice tools, but so have a lot of people. He could very well end up being a stud, but also anything from terrible to average. He only played about 20 games of college basketball. Lets not say he will be as good as arguably the best player in the NBA quite yet.

Spare me. You lost your four best players in a year and a half for draft picks and/or spare parts. Some of those spare parts were traded for... Draft picks. Who else does that sound like? And you were clearly tanking last year, teams that want to make the playoffs don't give up 40% of their starting lineup when they've already suffered an injury to a key player.

KJ McDaniels was our 3rd or 4th best wing player. He's a bad team defender and bad shooter. He's a good prospect, but stop with the gem nonsense he's a walking highlight reel who has no idea how to play basketball.

We didn't trade MCW for Isaiah Canaan. So that's a pretty easy one to argue against. Although that's a lateral move anyways, because one(MCW) gives you nothing offensively and one(Canaan) gives you nothing defensively. Canaan is a 12 mins a game heat check guy on a cheap contract. That's a good thing to have.

The idea that Ainge is doing everything he can to make your team better is borderline delusional. If he wanted to spin off picks your team would have some semblance of rim protection and would have given Rondo help in the offseason instead of using his cap space on salary dumps. Ainge is stockpiling for an eventual move at a star or hoping the BKN dumpster fire lands him a few top 5 picks. You're a fringe Eastern Conference playoff team, get off your high horse.

Both GMs are hoarding cap space, draft picks and movable young players in an attempt to acquire multiple superstars. That could be through trades, the draft or FA. We don't know and right now neither do the GMs.

Lastly, Ainge got IT because he's a good player who is young and signed for several years to a contract that is a big underpay. Not to win now.

Both teams are rebuildng, but the comparison ends there. All I need to say to prove this is that the celtics are actively competing for a playoff spot right now and he sixers are competing instead for the #1 pick

I'm not saying that one plan is better than the other, just that they are clearly two different plans.

I'm not saying that one plan is better than the other, just that they are clearly two different plans.

Because the Celtics began this process with a roster that was coming off a run of 6 or so straight years of contention and the Sixers started this process with a team that had gutted an 8 seed roster for Andrew Bynum leaving it with a terrible roster before it even began.

It's the exact same plan with a different starting point. You're competing for the playoffs because the East is so terrible that a team 10 games under .500 can label itself a "playoff contender" despite being a bad team.

Randy do you post this often on all teams boards? I can't say I have ever visited the Philly board and wouldn't even really know how to find it.

Head coach Brett Brown explained during a recent interview that the 76ers’ decision to put Joel Embiid (foot) back in his walking boot was more of a precautionary move than anything else.

Advice: "It is a minor thing. It's so precautionary," said Brown. "When [Joel] said 'I feel a little soreness', our first reaction is to go back to square one and go back to the boot. When you speak to doctors and people that do this all the time, they say it's quite normal. It's part of the recovery of an injury that you will experience some soreness from time to time."

Joel Embiid is going to be a phenom.  According to everything I've ever read about the kid, he was by far considered the best prospect in this draft and is likely better than any prospect in the 2015 Draft.  I know people freak out and assume he's following the path of Sam Bowie and Greg Oden, but I'm assuming he's going to get healthy.   Between him, Noel, Saric and whoever they end up with in the top 5 this year, that team (on paper) is set up to be ridiculous long-term.

And sure... people will point out how shallow "on paper" is, but... is it?  When the Cavs landed LeBron it took them a few years to make the playoffs, but it was clear he'd make an impact.  When the Sonics/Thunder landed Durant, it took them a few years to make the playoffs, but it was clear he'd make an impact.   When the Pelicans landed Anthony Davis, it took them a few years to make the playoffs, but it was clear he'd make an impact.   Joel Embiid is that type of talent.   And they might have 2-3 other guys on that level as well.   They are less like Ainge's strategy (accumulate mediocre assets/picks and hope to combine all of them for talent) and more like the Thunder strategy of drafting all the best players in the world.

Two things:

-Embiid isn't in that class of player.
-The Pelicans haven't made the playoffs with Davis

I like perspective of other fans. Even if you don't agree with it you usually learn about what indifferent or opposing perspectives are. The fact that there are a lot of similarities between the Sixers and the Celtics rebuilds interests me.

People were talking about Lebron starting when was 14, Durant was a superstar talent before setting foot on a college court. Davis is a complete athletic freak that has not really ever been seen before. Lumping Embiid in, a guy that has only been playing basketball a few years and played 20 games in college is unfair to everyone involved. He could be good but what is the point of just declaring him great before he plays? Nobody is declaring him horrible...
