Great win. Also, farewell to the season. The only way you don't return from a foot injury like this is if there's something torn.

Maybe we could have done it with a makeshift OL, but you can't do it with three healthy receivers, one of which is Aaron Dobson.

Yeah, they managed the win, which is more than I expected.  The Pats just seem to find a way.

But if Edelman is done ... man.  I agree, forget it.  The league is completely flawed this year.  The Panthers might be the best team out there, for Pete's sake.  Regardless, you're not winning a Super Bowl with LaFell, Amendola, and Dobson are your receivers.  Not even with Gronkowski leading the way.

I guess I agree that it's unlikely, but they are 9-0 and will be competetive with DA, Gronk LaFell, Dobson and White/Bolden/Blount.  They still could take the top seed. Then who comes to Foxboro and beats them?

At this point it seems like the Bengals and the Steelers are the biggest threats.  Pats have a good track record against those teams, especially if they get to play 'em at home, but both teams have big play guys and quarterbacks capable of having a big game.  The Broncos are toothless with Peyton looking ready to retire.

In the NFC, it looks like it's the Cards and Panthers as the class of the conference.  On a neutral field, I'd be concerned about the playmakers on both of those teams overpowering an injury-limited Pats team.

Anyway, I'm not worried about it too much.  This year is gravy.  It'd be unspeakably awesome if the Pats went undefeated through the Super Bowl, of course, but I'd be plenty happy with "just" another 14 or 15 win season plus a couple of wins in the playoffs before they bow out with injuries to key contributors and maybe some bad luck as a legitimate excuse.

There is no other competition in the AFC . All the Pats have to do is win 2 playoff games at home and they are in the Superbowl .

Then it's one game for a title , no matter who is on the field .

The Pats will adapt like they always do...

EDELMAN BROKE FOOT, NOT OUT FOR SEASON
Patriots WR Julian Edelman suffered a broken foot. but isn't out for the year, via ESPN's Dianna Russini and multiple reports; first reported by Fox Sports.
Wow. But he's likely out most of the rest of the season. LaFell and Dobson really need to step up.

Not so sure about him necessarily being out the rest of the regular season. Depending on the bone and the type a ns severity of break, Edelman could be back in just 4-5 weeks which could give him 1-2 games left in the regular season and the whole post season

4-8 weeks and 6-8 weeks according to two different articles on this type of injury with an outside chance it's longer. Assuming a bye (still a reasonably good bet with Denver having 2 losses and Manning having significant issues) and 7 weeks left in the season, he'd be back for the Patriots 1st playoff game. Could be earlier. Need him and Oline help too to have a chance at the Lombardi.

ESPN's Schefter is saying it's the same bone break that kept Dez Bryant out 6 weeks earlier this season; if Edelman's timeline is the same, he'd be back for the last couple games of the regular season, which would give him time to shake the rust before the playoffs.

My initial instinct—as is often the case in these types of situations—is to panic and call this season a loss. After all, the O-line's been held together with duct tape all season, last week the Pats lost Dion Lewis for the season, and now Edelman is injured. How could they possibly stay afloat, much less go for a title, with all of that working against them?

But I'm clinging to hope. They still have the best QB in the game, the best coach, the best tight end, an O-line that's playing with a chip on its shoulder because lots of people are saying they can't keep it up, and a couple of capable receivers in LaFell and Amendola. By the end of the season they could have a couple of those linemen back, along with Edelman, and be clicking on all cylinders just as the playoffs start. They might lose one or two between now and then, but in one way that might be good—it might eliminate the burden of this perfection stuff. Because I've often thought that the '07 team would've won the SB had it suffered even one loss during the regular season, as it would've sharpened its focus.

Edleman breaking his foot isn't the same as Dez's , Eldeman make many more sharp cuts than Bryant .  I would sit him out until the playoffs, and hope he can shake off the rust during the bye week going into the divisional playoff game.

There's no real reason to rush Edelman back before the playoffs start.  Patriots could very well have the AFC East division title wrapped up before December and could have a first round bye locked in before the optimistic end of Edelman's recovery period hits.   Give him the extra time to recuperate.  Besides getting reps, there might be zero reason to play him in Weeks 16 or 17 against NYJ & MIA.

Pats offense is being held together by popsicle sticks & ducttape right now.    That O-Line needs to get healthy because they were getting manhandled for much of the game.   They're pretty vulnerable right now.

After having reviewed this season, I have determined that it is more probable than not that opponents are targeting our key players. I hereby demand that Goodell give us every one of the first and fourth round draft picks from the teams we have played so far. They can keep the cash.

If Edelman is back for the playoffs, I'm not too worried.

The Pats need to keep rolling in the regular season, though, because we know how important home field is for them in the playoffs, and it doesn't seem like Cincy is gonna drop a bunch of games anytime soon.

I think HCA is more important to a team like Cincy than it is NE.  The bye is a more much important factor.  You don't want to be playing on Wild Card weekend.

I have no confidence that Cincy will get past their first playoff opponent so even if Cincy ends up as the #1 seed I still see the Pats having a couple home games in the playoffs. A couple to few losses isn't going to really hurt this team
