What's the Last Movie You Watched?

Saw Pizza Movie on Hulu. Might be one the best dumb comedy movies in a long time in the same line of Dude Where's My Car and Harold and Kumar. The trailer gives you an idea of the vibe of the movie but also gives some good parts away so I wouldn't watch the whole trailer.

Basically the movie is about two college freshman that take a drug pill they find in their dorm and find out that they have to eat pizza by the end of the night otherwise they will have a psychedelic saw shoved up their butts by their worse nightmare. Prior to that, they go through the 6 stages of tripping that involves challenges.

The concept is out there but it surprisingly makes sense and they do a good job of adding context to these characters. It has one of the kids from Strange Things and the main character of the TV show Goldbergs. I strongly recommend if silly out there comedy is your cup of tea. It had me laughing out loud many times.

Wikipedia mentioned reviews that call it "cutesy" and non-political.

The review of this new Animal Farm adaptation I have seen outrightly accuses it of doing a George Orwell on the source material.

Obsession was pretty great if you like horror movies.  A Monkey's Paw type plot.

Loved Obsession.

Masters of the Universe was surprisingly decent. If they'd trimmed back some if the extended CGI action maybe they could have made it profitable.

Disclosure Day was good but not great. Some of the plot/lore felt undercooked, some extra context would have helped. The lean plot helps push the action but it hurts the overarching story.

The Odyssey was really good.  I'm just echoing what seems like a pretty universal opinion, but it was an outstanding adaption of a story that many of us have known and loved since we were kids.

That said, it's not a movie that I anticipate rewatching a lot, and I'm not quite sure why that was.  Maybe it didn't connect as emotionally with me as much as some great movies?  It engaged my brain more than my heart? 

Don't take that as a criticism, though.  It's quite good.  And no, the criticized casting is not really a distraction, or at least it wasn't to me.

Just rewatched "And the Band Played On" (1993) which is about the very early years of the AIDS epidemic in the U.S.

Fascinating movie and historically accurate with great actors portraying the real-life scientists, politicians, patients from that era.
Explained the early investigative attempts to discover the viral cause of the disease in labs around the world.

  Saw the Odyssey. I thought it was amazing. Top 15 movie for me all time. I have a bias towards mythologies and also religious stuff even though I?m agnostic.
   The changes made WERE big ones. I didn?t care about the diversity thing . Shoot, dudes were playing chicks years ago . I?m kinda like ? get over it ? but the character of Odysseus was surely different . But I LIKED the changes . It made him more relatable . It?s not necessary to be able to relate to a character to like that character but it just worked for me.
   While I LIKE Greek mythology the actual books and  language used while not Shakespeare is quite a slog , especially Homer .
  It reads like a grocery list . ? this guy had this wife he had  these sons and then these guys and he brought 2 and 20 ships? and they go down the line of several  characters and how many  ships they brought . It?s insufferable.
   The modern language helped big time in my opinion. It looked great as and had some great performances in Damon and Hathaway ( who I don?t usually enjoy) . Favorite movie of the year by far.
  I can?t help but roll my eyes at online influencers who are pretending the book was this thrilling read. Not buying it. lol.
  I really can?t stand both political sides battling over a movie . This never woukd have happened before the 24 hour news cycle taught easily manipulated people to hate each other .

That pretty much sums up every Christopher Nolan for me lol.

Nolan is the most talented technical filmmaker/Cinematographer in the game, but also one of the worst story tellers. I personally dont derive any enjoyment from his films.
