We have two point guards - Isiah Thomas from the Detroit Pistons and Isaiah Thomas currently of the beloved Boston Celtics.
Isiah was about 6 foot 1, Isaiah is about 5 foot 9.
Both players have averaged in the high teens as well as averaging over 20 points a game in a season.
Both players are above average passers.
Both players excelled and excel in the NBA despite size limitations.
One is in the Hall of Fame. One may someday reach the Hall of Fame.
One created a moment for a Celtic legend (Larry Bird), that will live on in Celtics lore forever.
One currently plays for the Celtics when the team is in desperate need of legends to create lore.
So I wonder, is there anyone on the board who thinks Isaiah can be a better player than Isiah of the Detroit Pistons HOF fame?
Personally, if I was a betting man, I wouldn't be against Isiah of the Pistons. I saw him during his prime, and while at the time I couldn't stand him, (or any of those "Bad Boy Pistons"), I'd be foolish not to recognize that he was such an incredible player. (If you don't know about Isiah Thomas, all you need to know is contained in game 6 and 7 of the 1988 finals against the Lakers).
I think Isaiah Thomas may have the raw tools to become a great player, and HOFer someday, but how history shakes out? Who knows. And Isiah Thomas has set the bar very high.
