Worried about paying Sullinger a big contract extension if he comes into camp overweight again next season.

Once I heard he had a foot issue, I knew the remainder of his season was in jeapordy.

Looking forward, when KO returns, I wonder if he will start or come off the bench.  Assuming Thomas comes off the bench, would he be more successful in the "pick in roll" with Tyler Zeller rather then KO?

Though KO might be better suited to play with the other starters, and Zeller with the bench, I don't think starting KO at the center position is a great idea.

Sullinger has now had two season ending major injuries in the three years he has been in the NBA. The back injury was big time. This is too if it's like the injury that ended Brooke lopez's season last year. No way imo should ainge give him any extension that isn't comparable to an MLE type deal.

Personally I think he's damaged goods.

Danny won't pay Sully. I just don't see him investing with him. Too many flags with this guy...

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
On a related note, this could be a total disaster for Sully and the Cs. An overweight player sustains an injury where he can no longer move around freely and exercise. Like, seriously, the guy plays professional NBA basketball for a living and he is still totally out of shape. This could either turn out really well (highers dietitian, becomes disciplined in whatever exercise routines he can participate in, etc) or just horribly (see Oliver Miller and Tractor Traylor).
His dad stays on Sully pretty hard to do the right thing. Hopefully He will do what he can to stay in shape in the pool. Love the water Suly. I hope this is not a Yao or Bill walton issue as well.

Not happy for Sully and really concerned that this kind of injury could affect the career of a guy who weighs so much. That said, I am hoping that this injury halts any foolish drive to make the playoffs by winning 33-35 games. And, that this results in a much better draft pick.

Welcome and TP - agree with you on KO playing center. Now it looks like he may get a few more minutes at PF. Next year we will hopefully have that athletic 'rim protector' and KO can play his more natural position while also being a better fit in the offense.

sully injury a nightmare ,matter of fact nba seems ever more dangerious .Any stats on this,is season and the intensity of offense defense decimating the league of its most talented-or is it just my perception and it was always like this pushing ones body beyond its limits,40inch verticals but you have  to come down andplayers so much bigger and stronger-long season and too many games-

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Hoping for a speedy recovery.

This will be a test for Sully and his discipline. Without the full ability to run, let's see if he can be committed enough to stay on shape and get back in good condition. I think his NBA career depends on this.

You gave me a good laugh mentioning Sully and 40 inch verticals in the same paragraph.  So TP to you.

Wonder if Sullinger's weight has anything to do with this?

If sully was going to lose weight it would have happened already.  Getting the sense the kid has issues. Showing up to practice late and stuff...

Good timing.  Should slightly negate the Thomas trade and keep us in contention for a top 5 pick.  We might be better with oly/bass though.

Nonsensical. Even if you believed the C's were better with him off the floor (anything to back that up with?), he can play the 5 which we desperately need. This team will be noticeably worse without Sully.
