Cuts into our cap and creates more issues with our guard rotation, but whatever... Thomas is a nice buy-low player i guess.

How is anything, but good? Thomas' contract is descending. That's huge!

Hearing Pistons swung trade before the buzzer to reacquire Tayshaun Prince from Boston

I wanted no part of Prince before we got him but I actually liked him a lot after watching him every game.  He doesn't fit with our youth movement but I still liked watching him.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
OKC also got DJ Augustin from DET for RJacks. Kanter + Singler + Augustin not a bad haul at all for Jacks and Perk.

Hearing Tayshaun Prince to Detroit for Jerebko and Datome
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Is detroit any better of a situation for Prince?

I hope we at least got a 2nd

Cuts into our cap and creates more issues with our guard rotation, but whatever... Thomas is a nice buy-low player i guess.

His salary decreases every year, under 7mil. That barely does anything to effect The C's cap space.
We traded an expiring for him... it does impact our cap a bit.

I mean, duh, it literally does. But tangibly it has little effect. His tiny contract, and with getting rid of Prince, and potential buyouts, it has basically zero effect. Even without related moves it doesn't move the needle on limiting the Celtics and their cap space in relation to max contracts they are capable of signing and the rising cap.

So, yes, it is a slight bit more committed. In reality it has a minuscule effect on the teams options moving forward. Seems like an odd thing to fixate on in this deal.

what kind of garbage trade is that. I rather keep prince.

I remember Danny wanted to sign Datome a few seasons back for whatever reason.

Source: Miami sends Danny Granger, Norris Cole, Shawne Williams, Jordan Hamilton and two first-round picks to the Suns for Dragic brothers.
So Dragic & Dragic for a pile of crap and two picks. Heh.

Although this seems this is a multiteam deal, so not clear that all of those are going to PHO.

They're supposedly getting John Salmons
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Thinking OKC, Bucks for taking advantage of the Sixers, and us for getting Thomas for nothing have to be the big winners here

Do Luigi and Jerepko have salary implications past this season?  If so....

craziest trade deadline I have ever seen.  You need to do a flowchart to be able to follow everything. Especially with Phoenix.

I'd second that.  I thought most experts were predicting a pretty boring trade deadline with most teams waiting for buyouts.

Jerebko has a 4.5 mill expiring, and Datome has a 1.8 mill qualifying offer.

Nope, both expirings.
