Why not trade for Lawson and Kanter. Try to extend Kanter for 10-11 mil per. Go after Tobias Harris in the offseason.

We basically would be moving Rondo/Bass/Green in the lineup for those three. We got bigger, younger (Rondo and Lawson basically the same age), and cheaper (at least in the case of Harris and Lawson who should be able to be had for less than Rondo and Green would have commanded)

If we can get by with paying Lawson/Kanter/Harris $33-35 mil, thats a pretty good deal. We can still build through the draft with the Nets picks.

Correct me if this is wrong, but we can replace a few players in '16 and '17 through the draft and keep our main group together:

2016 expirings: Turner, Sullinger, Zeller

2017 expirings: Crowder (if given a 2 year deal now), Olynyk, Lawson

2018 expirings: Bradley, Smart, Young

2019expirings: Kanter, Harris, '15 draft picks

Hmmmm, good point had not thought about them sending a message to teams they may be trying to sell too.  I think Ainge has an offer in for said player, not Lawson, and this is a ploy.  What we may gather from this is said player is a guard such as dragic or Thomas.
Also of course many teams may have offers in for dragic, Thomas, or player we have not thought of yet.

I've said it before -- I don't think Harris is going anywhere.  If he is, he'll go to New York or LA.

As for Lawson / Kanter:  Not wild about the idea of having 30 million or more per year invested in Lawson, Bradley, and Kanter.  That sounds like a recipe for mediocrity to me, even taking into account the Brooklyn picks.

Denver is going to want AB and 2 1sts at the min

Danny i guess saw enough of lawson killing the celts.

I would do that in a second and I will drive AB to Logan.

I would happily set up as a sniper and shoot out your tires to keep that trade from happening.  I just hate the idea.

Lawson is only a few years away from 30, though, and with his size he probably won't age well.
That's one way to describe a player who will barely turn 28 by the time next season's opening tip-off rolls around. Another one would be "in his prime".

You have to also consider that if Ainge wants to sign a big name FA or two this summer, he needs a couple of very good players on the roster in their prime to attract FAs.

Sullinger,  Thornton and the Clippers pick for Lawson.  Keep Bradley as our third guard.

Because I would wager your one of the few who thinks he is worth 10-11 million.   I would rather wait for Asik or someone who can play D.

I see us dealing AB if we trade for Lawson and moving Smart to the off guard.

pieces I would be willing to give up for Lawson = AB,KO,Zellar , Clips pick , Dal pick

So lets say it's AB , KO and Clips pick (plus filler if needed )

PG: Lawson     / Pressey
SG: Smart      / Young
SF:  Crowder  / Prince
PF: Sully        / Bass
 C: Zellar       /

Kanter stinks.  Sully is better.  Olynyk will be better, given their current trajectories.  Just say no to Kanter.  He refused to travel with the team due to playing time.  He's played 27 minutes per game this year on a team that has Favors and Gobert!  The Celtics only have 1 player (Sully at 28) who gets that much playing time.  Leave this malcontent alone.

As perspective on whether we should surrender one or even two first rounders for Lawson:

1. Lawson has been the 4th-6th best player in the draft he was chosen in (2009). The only players clearly better are Harden, Curry and Griffin. Lawson's in a next group that includes Taj Gibson, Teague, Derozan and Jrue Holiday.

2. Suppose we trade two picks for him, one in the 12-15 range and one in the 22-25 range. Here's the list of players those picks have yielded over a period of 3 years 2008-2010 (to give a sense of comparability with Lawson):

Jason Thompson
Brandon Rush
Anthony Randolph
Robin Lopez
Courtney Lee
Kostas Koufos
Serge Ibaka
Nic Batum
Gerald Henderson
Earl Clark
Tyler Hansbrough
Austin Daye
Victor Claver
Byron Mullens
Omri Casspi
Rod Beaubois
Xavier Henry
Ed Davis
Patrick Patterson
Larry Sanders
Elliot Williams
Trevor Booker
Damion Jones
Dominique Jones

Personally I see only one guy on the list (Ibaka) who's as good or better than Lawson. And a whole lot of the rest aren't even rotation-level NBA players.

If we trade what are more likely to be two later firsts (like the Clips pick and the 2016 Cleveland pick or Dallas pick), then acquiring Lawson looks even better.

To me this seems like a clear two-dimes-for-a-quarter upgrade.

I understand that you're getting two guys on rookie contracts rather than Lawson who's older and more expensive, but with rookies you also have uncertainty about whether they'll develop - or explode but leave after their rookie deal is up. As illustration, our current roster contains only 2 guys of the 12 draft picks we had in 2007-2012.

with our picks, players, and TEs make the trade for Lawson, Dragic, and  kanter

sign T. Harris in the offseason.

Lawson
dragic
T harris
sully
kanter

that 5 can be top 4 in the east.

Here’s my super far fetched 4 teamer—

Den gets   AB, Ben Mac + 2016 BLK 1st, 2016 CLE 2nd
Sac gets   Lawson, Kantor + 2015 LAC 1st, 2015 BOS 1st, 2016 CLE 1st
Uta gets   Olynyk, Bass (exp) + 2016 PHI 2nd, 2016 MIA 2nd
Bos gets  Boogie, JThompson

kind of feels like giving up the farm here, but we'd still have 4 firsts & 6 seconds over the next four years to go along with this core:

Smart
Thornton / Young
Crowder / Turner
Sully     / Thompson
Boogie / Zeller

Not trying to be a buzz kill here but, when you weigh the cost/production, just not happening.
As of right now by rumors (that is all we have)
Lawson costs you 2 number 1's plus  at least one youngster and 12 mil in salary
Dragic cost's a #1 and a big and you have to re-sign him (or he can walk and you get nothing) rumored price 12-15 mil
Harris will get max offer from Magic or close to it so he is not going anywhere as he gets more years
Kanter is going to cost a #1 and you have to re-sign him or he can walk and you get nothing (salary cost unknown but most likely around 10 million

We lose 4 number ones, add roughly any and all cap space we have and a couple of existing players for  a chance at the 4 seed ... no thanks
