You have to admit it would be interesting to sneak into the eight-seed and matchup with the Hawks in the first round.

We wouldn't have a chance in hell, but if we can take them to 6~7 games that would be a huge momentum booster for next season, much like Atlanta itself had with the Indiana series last year.
The Hawks are notorious for having late season injuries....anything is possible.  On the other hand if they are healthy, then you can forget about any chances of winning.

They looked beatable last night.
We wore them down with our defense.
And they got every call from the refs.

Funny, I think the final score was the only time we had the lead the entire night.

But the only one that matters!

I hope we do make the playoffs though, would love to see who will step up when the games really matter.

Also, I hope it's not Evan Turner.  Like him as a player, but his behind the back dribble on that final play nearly gave me a heart attack...

During the entire game---it seemed like we should have been down like 30 points--as the clock was winding down--I kept saying to myself, "Hmmm, we're only down 10"...and we somehow end up winning a game, we had no business even being in....Will be nice to beat The Hawks in round 1.

First of all, it's very unlikely that we will make the playoffs.  Second, there's no chance we beat the Hawks or probably even win a game.  Not sure what game you were watching last night but they were clowning us in the 2nd quarter.  It's like a varsity team playing a freshman team.  Teams lose games they should win (Atlanta) and sometimes team win games they should lose (us).

In 3 games with them this year, this is the first time we were close.  Recognize a fluke for a fluke.

I would say the odds the celtics make the playoffs can't be much lower than 1 in 3. We are a game out in the loss column with 30 to go. We obviously are not a great team, but none of the teams around us are. The Heat have clearly made a mistake by stubbornly refusing to rebuild after Lebron left. They are now playing a habitually gimpy wade, aging role players (chris anderson, haslem, grander), a legit star in Bosh, and a few young players with promising starts (napier, whiteside). They definitely have more talent than us, but they also have a lot of games they are just not competing in. Charlotte is very similar talent to us, particularly while Kemba Walker is out. Detroit is playing Augstin 38 minutes a night and hoping it is enough to make them competitive with Monroe and Drummond. Brooklyn is just flat out ugly. Indiana is the best team of the bunch, but also have a really oddly constructed roster. I don't see how anyone says whether we or better or worse than those teams and the bonus is that there are two playoffs spots for the group instead of 1.

You do realize that in our first game with them we were leading in the 4th quarter and lost by 4 points. How is that not close?

So, if we're lucky, we would lose in five as a speedbump team for whoever has the first seed.

Thrilling. One to tell the grandkids about.

We almost beat them in Atlanta...and last night, it took half the game for Stevens to figure out which combination he needed on the floor---Sure The Hawks are pretty good---but they aint the 86 C's...They are too small up front--and Horford was rubbing his shoulder once again.

We are 7-5 in our last 12 games, and we are now only 1 game out of the last playoff spot.

We can make the playoffs.

Go Butler!......oh wait.......

;D

The major selling point of a playoff series at the end of this season, to me, is the knowledge/expectation that it would be less miserable than the Knicks series.

Beat ATL last night.

SHOULD have beaten them earlier this year when we were up 20 points much of the game. Rondo couldn't contain Teague / Schroeder!

I am finally turning around on the Rondo / Green trades. . . . maybe they were the right moves. I was sad to see them leave, but apparently we're better without. . .?

I agree. Too many cooks in the kitchen before. Basketball players need consistency and 10 guys all getting 20 minutes a game is not going to cut it. Now that the starters are getting close to 30 minutes a game we are seeing much more consistency in the individual players games.
2025 Fantasy Draft Philadelphia 76ers:
PG: Rajon Rondo '11-'12;  WestBrook; Wall
SG: James Harden '18-'19 Marcus Smart
SF: Andrei Kirilenko '05-'06; Peja Stojakovic
PF: Anthony Davis '17-'18;   Kevin Love, Griffin
C: Amare Stoudemire '04-'05;   Marcus Camby

Aside from the obvious contract issues--I think Danny got rid of the 2 guys who liked to coast--and Not give their best efforts each night...The guys still here, play hard at all times (Sully sometimes relaxes).
