In today's NBA no GM can "fleece" others like Red Aurbach used to do. Its a lot about luck, and how players pan out. Who would have thought that in the Mega-trade where Orlando, Philli and Lakers traded, 76rs would be the biggest losers and Orlando the winnerS?
Most analysts expected 76rs to dominate, and Howard to keep Kobe's window open for 3 more championships....
That being said - Danny is getting deals done. Brooklyn trade now seems like an EPIC win, since KG is done, and we are potentially getting multiple picks from a lottery bound team...
But even the small things. Getting a 2nd round pick out of the Green trade by flipping Rivers to the one team in the NBA who wants him is Genius. Its not putting us over the top, but every pick is an asset to be used later.
The NBA is going through massive change, due to the cap explosion and I think Danny has seen this coming for 1-2 years now. I expect him to trade a bunch of picks - possibly to climb in the draft, and then keep a full pantry of picks to fuel our team with low cost talents in 2018 and beyond.
