While it's true that some people were very insistent on getting him in Celtics green, Asik is still a better player than Olynyk and Zeller.

So is Kevin Love.  The difference is Olynyk and Zeller combined only make a fraction of what those guys do.

If we seriously created a team built around no defense Love and no offense Asik, the Celtics would have been in deep trouble.

Although Celticsblog would have thrown a parade for some reason.

Great thread, TP for the OP.

There's no overrated celticbloggers, we have great posters and terrible posters, but nobody overrates them/us/you... I laughed out loud, and I really needed that today. Thanks.

About players overrated by this blog, there are quite a few, we tend to overrate our own players, but on the other hand we have the ones who get bashed: TA, Jeff Green, Bass and Rondo come off the top of my head.

And yeah, the "grass is greener" effect works with players from time to time. Omer Asik was overrated by a good number of people here, who were willing to send one and even two first round picks to Morey for the right to pay Asik a lot of money. Omer Asik is worse than pre-ACL injury Perk, his only ability is having enough athleticism to make him a decent defender for such a big guy. But his offensive game is just terrible.

I'm happy Danny didn't help Morey out of his "genius backloaded contracts" to Lin and Asik, and I hope we can get a better C in this year's draft.

Other overrated guys: Greg Stiemsma, Allan Ray, Shavlick Randolph, Kevinn Pinkney, and my binky Terrence Williams

I am not gonna stick up for Asik's game.  He needs work, but I will just relay what my college basketball coach told me one day about our 7'0".

"Yes, Ed is not good, but you cannot teach 7 foot..."

Asik is big, that is why he is wanted.  cannot teach 7 foot.

In December 2014 he signed with Fuerza Regia of Monterrey, Mexico. In his first game he scored 19 points in the game that Fuerza Regia won 101-85 against Gigantes Estado de Mexico. Williams also grabbed 2 rebounds and has 6 assists
