Nope, he traded Green for a 1st round pick and an expiring contract.

Green was a member of another team in his mind the moment Rondo was traded

If we find a 3rd team. Are we getting any other pieces or we just getting prince and a 1st?

I wish Green the best. He is a third scoring option at best. We expected too much. Danny gave him multiple chances to break out

Like Lee, he will have more space and room to do better in memphis

Gasol
Zbo
Green
Lee
Conley jr.

Not too bad at all

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
So has anyone reported who the third team would be?

I doubt there will be a 3rd team. Who wants Prince??  Who is going to give up anything for him

I really hope Nelson is gone next.

Bass somehow to survive all of this and stay with the team??  I honestly would not mind keeping him for a few more seasons. Good guy off the bench. Hard working

Yahoo Sources: Once a third team locks in, Memphis and Boston have agreement on a trade for Jeff Green. http://yhoo.it/1yMeR4L

Keeping Bass just takes time from young guys developing. He's too good to have wasting away on a team like ours.
Time to clear house and shoot up for the draft- and that means getting as 'young' (bad) as possible for a few seasons.

You need a min of 4 front court players.  No reason to trade bass for a 2nd. Just keep him and dont totally mess up the rotation

Yes, trade him for a second round pick... get a D league player or young forward or 2nd round pick in return.

Don't totally mess up the rotation? I think that went out the door once Rondo was gone and we knew Green+Bass were next.
They just traded your binky Brandon Wright. They have Colton Iverson in Europe. They have the D League.
Olynyk, Sully, Zeller and one of them is fine.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I just thought the whole point of the Green trade was that he was going to be part of the "future."

Paul Pierce's heir replacement.

He was when the plan was to build around rondo. Danny realized this year with the Kevin love saga that was not going to happen and as such things changed.

True, but gpap has somewhat of a point, I think.  At the time of the Perk trade, it was justified as a bridge to the future, as there was concern that Perk would leave in free agency.  Green was supposed to be a building block.

Now, the net proceeds of the Perk trade look like Fab Melo and a future #1.  I think it's fair to ask whether diminishing our chances at a championship were worth that return.

If you believe that Perk was the difference between championship and not, then in retrospect the answer is an obvious "no".
But, haven't we already been down this back and forth path many, many, many times before?

Oh, for sure.  At the same time, I think it bolsters the argument that teams should maximize their chances at a championship when they're true contenders, rather than worrying too much about the future.

It will soon be the end of an error.

IF THIS TRADE IS SO CLOSE TO BEING COMPLETED WHY IS PRINCE PLAYING FOR MEMPHIS AS WE SPEAK?

Maybe because we don't care about Prince the player at all?  He's just a contract.  If he blows out his knee in this game, we'd still go through with the deal.

I agree with us not caring about him, but if we're getting a third team involved in this trade they might use him as an asset
