"xxxx fits the system" or "xxxx doesn't fit the system"

stated most often by folks who would struggle to actually describe "the system" or explain exactly why the player does/doesn't fit the system.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

"Player X could/couldn't be the _______ on a contender" (starting center, point guard, Nth best player).  Lotta average and below-average players have played just about every role for past contenders.  It's a silly and arbitrary standard.

As far as terms/phrases that are most often used incorrectly, it's got to be per-36 and other misapplied metrics.

As for most annoying, I think "heart," "grit," and the like take the cake.

I'm a fan of the ongoing conflation of "wanted to win game" and "won game".

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm sure someone else said it but "score the basketball" is something that I say but I understand, it's stupid and redundant.
