How long before someone types 'enforcer'.
They don't really have those in the NBA anymore.

"Basketball IQ"

...Whatever happened to just calling a basketball player smart, intelligent, heady, etc.? ....Instead of labeling every decent player as someone who has a "high basketball IQ".

Obviously you don't call someone a smart player based on their off-court achievements such as SAT scores or Connect 4 victories. (Sorry...had to throw in the Rondo reference...especially since he is a player with very high "basketball IQ.")

Maybe Marcus Smart isn't smart after all...he's Marcus Basketball IQ

...ok ok, I'm done haha.

"a"

The Celtics are looking to trade for "a" Kevin Love. How will the Mavericks be different with "a" Rondo. How will the injury to "a" Lebron James affect the Cavs.

My least favorite word is "rebuilding".  Rebuilding usually is fool's gold.  It rarely works, and it's downright painful.

"Antetokounmpo is going to be a superstar."
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Stupid per-36 stats.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

"Tanking" and "the tank".
I've been sick of these terms for a few years now.  Every team that is young and developing is not tanking.  I don't think the Celtics are tanking.  The term should be reserved for a team like the Sixers.

I agree.  I do not think players and/or coaches tank.  GMs? well, that's another story.

Stupid per-36 stats.

Specifically, the thought that per36 numbers are somehow a projection of how a player would perform if he played 36 minutes a game and not a measure of how he does play in his minutes on the court.

Given how big a percentage of the players in this league are significantly over 6 feet talk and 160 pounds, the term 'undersized' is very popular here.

XXX has the potential to be a ______.
Agree with Gari.   "Potential"...means?  despite the fact that he is not good, he may improve?  he may be great?  he may actually reach some mediocre level of performance?  "He has the potential to be a third string point guard on a Championship team!"   lol
