Westphal and the Suns gave the 1976 Celtics a hard time winning the championship. Hopefully, Rondo won't do the same to us when we are finally contenders again.

While I marveled at rondo from game 1 of preseason he is now gone.
Rondo and the trade will now be discussed for at least the next three years.  He joins such players for discussion as:
james posey is god
tony allen should have paid him
jeff green/kendrick perkins trade
paul pierce and kg
doc

am i forgetting anyone?
paul silas!
Toine.

Thank god all mighty those threads are dead and gone.

bc he quit on the Celts.  And now with his new team, he is playing the way he was expected to play as a Celtic from the beginning of this season.  If he played better, maybe he doesn't get traded or at least we can get back more than we did.  I don't really care anymore. Don't watch the Mavs nor Rondo.   My focus on the current Celts team

You brood of haters do NOT deserve Rondo. You talk of assumptions as facts.

Because many others talked about him only to "goodmanner" him.

Think about it, how much of Rondo's supposed arrogance and attitude are just smoke generated by media, whom Rondo had refused to kiss up to since day 1?  Give one example where Rondo treat his teammates badly, besides the story about rolling his eyes when they fumbled his passes, which is a story from his rookie year that the media reiterated countless time because they can't find anything else to talk about?  Do you remember when Ray Allen left, he bad mouthed Rondo to the media, while Rondo remained silent?  Despite rocky relationship with Rivers, Rondo always gave him utmost respect publicly.  Even the bashing for his birthday incident is overreaction.  Do people seriously not see his effort to support the team through out his entire injury rehab time?  And why is it that whenever Rondo had a conflict with anyone, it was always his and not the other party's fault, even though we don't know exactly what happened?

Honestly, Mavericks are giving Rondo the respect he deserves, and just maybe that is why he is thriving in their system.

He's not thriving in their system, but I agree with the rest of your post - Rondo being a bad teammate was pretty overblown IMO.

But really, in terms of why we still talk about Rondo, what the heck else are we going to talk about? The Celtics are awful. There is no elite talent on the team to debate over. Do we even have a top-40 player right now? The team is boring to watch and bad. Not much else to discuss.

What I meant is that he has been more energetic and seems to care more in his new team.  I read that Carlisle is allowing Rondo to be Rondo, and not forcing him into any system, because he understands that is how you get the best from him, a very special player.  That is totally opposite of Stevens' approach, even Rivers'.  I don't think Rondo has ever had a coach who understood him this way.  For example, Rondo's first game against the Spurs, Carlisle sent him to the middle of the zone to dismantle it by his creative plays, and he did it beautifully.  He was also key to their last three wins.  I am happy for Rondo and we may yet see even more amazing things from him.

But of course why should anyone on this board care, right?  Except, maybe, if you care about the game of basketball.

I follow Rondo because I am a fan of basketball, and he is someone worth following. I don't scour the internet to live stream Mavs games, but I'll check his stat line after I check the C's game. (Hooray for "The Score" app and all it's convenience!) I now follow Rondo in the a way similar to how I follow Durant, LeBron, Cousins, etc. However, there is slightly more emotionally invested because, you know, he kind of played for the Celtics for 7 1/2 years.

About the original thread title, I am actually trying to make a flow chart of all the Rondo complaints over the years using evidence from this blog. Once it's done, I'll start a thread about it.

Rondo wiill always be a topic of conversation for Celtic fans. He's one of the greatest point guards to ever dawn the uniform, and he was traded before he was 30 years old.

Just out of curiosity, how much have you seen him play for the Mavs, and in what way is he not thriving? I haven't caught them yet, but they seem to be playing pretty well with him in the lineup.
