The Memphis pick feels like a pretty light return for Green.  But, something like this, with CLE's Memphis pick and a distant future pick coming to the Celtics?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lsd5nxc

You might be able to get someone to throw in a 2nd rounder but you're not going to get two 1st rounders for Green.  Have you already forgotten how little we got in the Rondo trade?  Green is going to opt out so he's a half year rental just like Rondo.

I could see the Cavs throwing in something like their 2018 pick if Danny threw in a second rounder (depends on how much they like the guy they'd be getting)
I'm bitter.

Unless we really make out on the trade, it will hurt to watch us help Cleveland land a good young center when we've needed one ourselves for so long. I also don't see why the Grizzlies would want to trade away Koufos. He's young and talented, and Zbo is getting up there in age. Same for Timo and Denver. They have Nurkic, Timo, and McGee, but McGee is an albatross and Nurkic is not ready yet.

Hard to get excited about a future Memphis second rounder, but I'm curious what people think of this deal.   Say, a #25 and a #50 pick for Green.

What team is going to give you that?

We already facilitated Cleveland getting Love which led to Rondo getting traded.  It can't hurt any worse than that.

Except that Love wasn't coming here anyway, he had already decided to go to Cleveland. Guys like Koufos and Timo are not pending free agents demanding to do to Cleveland. They are young guys looking to play big minutes and get paid.

Cleveland gives you Memphis's pick and Memphis gives you some distant 2nd rounder in the trade linked above.

They were getting Love either way. I'm just glad it was us that grabbed the assets and not someone else before our TE expired.

The ESPN report is a bit odd as facilitating a deal as a 3rd team and parting with our big depth are fairly conflicting points of participation.

Koufos is going to be a UFA and I read somewhere that he wants to start so Memphis is likely to lose him anyway.

Exactly. Typical ESPN journalism standards.

Right, this is my point exactly.  If we unload Green, we're not really a facilitating third party.  I don't see how we get involved otherwise.

I'm glad we participated too especially with how good Zeller looks.  I see no reason not to facilitate another trade with them which gets them a good young center as long as we get a good return.

ESPN reports are often odd, conflicting and/or wrong.  They tend to throw everything they can in a story where there is a rumor with no real details.

So you guys think Cleveland has the assets to land a good young center but we don't? At what point do we have the assets to land good players? And how would a team like Cleveland put together a better deal than us anyways?

Frankly, if CLE can land players they need but we can't, then this rebuild is doomed because nobody wants our crap. CLE js not a particularly attractive trading partner.

I'm sure we could out bid Cleveland for Koufos if we were willing to give up a couple good first rounders.  However, he is a UFA and could walk at the end of the season.  Are you willing to take that chance?  Cleveland is going all in to get a championship with Lebron so they are willing to take risks.

Fascilitating probably means using out tpe to absorb some salary and let the cavs perform some cap trickery... Getting a pick for our troubles.

Wouldn't mean giving or getting anything major.

The tpe is really only valuable in a small window before we end up with cap space.  Eventually if we want to use our cap space we would need to give up the tpe
