  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Just so people understand this....

Brandon Wright is not the centerpiece of this deal.
He is expiring filler and will probably be flipped to another team ASAP.

We just had to include him because they don't have any other expirings that are that large.
If we waited till the offseason then we'd have take on Felton for a year- not a huge deal but now we have an expiring AND a tradeable asset in Wright.

We basically traded Rondo for a future first round pick. lol.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I can't think of anything better than a 6'9" center who weighs 205 pounds.  ::)

For some reason, I don't find this funny...

You know, for everyone who said that Rondo was lazy and inconsistent in the effort department, I'd like to point out that the consensus on Brandan Wright for many years has been that he lacks any sort of 'fire' at all.  He's already 27, has never been a starter, and sucks.  If we wanted a 'rim protector,' we could have gotten Hassan Whiteside for FREE.

are you joking?? Whiteside has no real experience. Brandan comes from a very good team. Has won a ring.   Also Brandan has a good feel for the game, unlike Whiteside "Melo" part 2

Whiteside wont COST us Rondo.

Wright is a bench player, youre like a car salesman who's pumping up an old Honda Civic and telling everyone it's a Honda S2000 as long as you keep it running.

Brandan Wright never started in his career, and if he's starting for your team, your team sucks.

Exactly. Seven years in the league and the guy has never started, yet all of a sudden he is going to become a starter of the Celtics and make this a good team. So freaking inane to think this that it hurts my head.

I disagree. He fills the need for an above the rim guy.  Not sure what his long term future will be with us, but Dallas certainly couldn't afford to extend him (even at 5 M per year) with extensions required for Rondo, Chandler

Some web pages have him at 6'9" and some 6'10".  Some pages 205 and one says 240.

I think we needed some athletic ability in the post.

Well... his per minute production is surprisingly great.  Per-36 averages of 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1.3 steals on 75% shooting (76% from the line)

Gotta hand it to Ainge... trading one of the league's most overrated players for one of the league's most underrated.   I'm still a fan of Danny.

A 7-year, underrated veteran who basically has never been a starter.  ::)

I am hoping for the best but Wright has been 6'10 with a 35.5 vertical leap and 7'5" wingspan for his whole career and he hasn't been talented enough to warrant enough minutes to average more than 4 rebounds per game.  Measurables don't equal talent.  It's not like he's only had a couple years in the NBA.  This is his 7th (SEVENTH) year and he has been average at best.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Some places list Wright as 210lbs and others list him at 240lbs.  Does anybody know which is correct?

The guy never played 20+ minutes in his career. The only thing he's filling is energy off the bench. And that costed us a great PG in the process.

Please elaborate how Rondo has been a "great" PG this year or last year. Also, what is your criteria for a player to be "great"? Is that a top 3 player at their position? Top 5? Top 10? Top 20?
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

You got me. He's a beast at 240 pounds. He will be on another team soon. Will you follow and cheer for your new favorite player on that new team?

He plays with good effort and does not step out of his boundaries.  He can run . He will be a good fit for this unit
