Is it time to consider whether the Celtics made a mistake with Brad Stevens>

I realize the Celtics have talent issues but how can the Celtics lose to Charlotte and the Knicks which are terrible teams?   The C's also have a problem holding leads - they have lost a lot of games after leading going into the 4th quarter.  I'm beginning to wonder if the Celtics have made a mistake in hiring Brad - he can't seem to motivate the team to perform at a consistent level (except to exhibit consistent poor play...can't play defense at all).

He is signed to a 6 year for a contract. Let him learn while we stink , and next year we sign a max all-star(or trade for one ) and get a good draft pick as more bait plus brooklyns picks .

people wanted to drive doc rivers out of town too when the C's were losing. then he gets ray allen/KG and people consider him the best coach.

Lets give Stevens some slack here. more than any other sport, basketball is dependent on stars and right now the C's dont have any.

we have Alot of nice complimentary role players, however in the NBA you need stars. You could make the argument that Green is playing like an all-star this year. But, Rondo needs to step it up. we need someone else who can score. The assists/rebounds are nice. But PLEASE rondo get back to being the player you were in our playoff runs where you would score 17ppg

I think he's doing a fantastic job considering the lack of talent he has.  They're playing very well together, sharing the ball, and despite all the losses it seems everyone is buying in rather than causing problems.  I think he's getting the most out of his players and can't wait until they add more talent and the talent they currently have matures.

This team is losing due to a lack of talent.  I place very little blame at Stevens feet.  Phil Jackson or Red would have trouble winning with this roster.

I won't fight you on KO, but are you seriously trying to say that taking Sully at #21 was a mistake?

I won't fight you on KO, but are you seriously trying to say that taking Sully at #21 was a mistake?

Don't bother. Ask him for statistical back-up and there is none to speak of.

Defensively, Sullinger actually ranked well above average against both the pick-and-roll defender and roll man, according to Synergy, which no doubt earned him Brad Stevens' trust as the season went on.

Sully has gotten visibly stronger and quicker this year. I would expect his defense to have improved.

Try 82games or other advanced stats websites and you will not find statistical proof to back up your claims. Sully is far from an exemplary defender but there is also a buffer between him and Olynyk's level of putridity as well. When put next to a legitimate rim protector, Sully could at least contain his man one-on-one. Not so sure the same can be said of Olynyk.

Well for one, his statement "our 4s are 5s and our 5s are 4s. They are interchangeable" is one of his issues. Not playing Vitor or Joel at the 5 last year, and not starting Zeller every game this year. Kelly and Sully are not centers nor is bass and neither should see the floor with the other 4s. Play big, JG can be at the 2, but not at the 4.

I have many issues with his game plan, but I'll wait till he has better pieces till I say fire him.

I mean many good coaches are without teams, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, George Karl etc but everyone seems to want a young coach or an recent ex player like kidd and fisher etc.

I think it's fair to say the jury is still out. For all the praise he's garnered, it's important to note that he's won nothing at this level. Now, of course, that's not necessarily his fault--- he hasn't been given a roster capable of winning. So let's wait until the roster is replete with actual NBA players before forming a concrete opinion one way or the other.

Now, that being said, have I been thoroughly pleased with is performance? No. His team looks lost in crunch time, fails to execute ATO plays and can't defend. How much of that is his fault, and how much how is a product of inferior players?  I suspect its largely a player issue; not a coaching issue. But he does deserve some blame.

He's definitely still learning, and it would be a waste for him to have a decent team right now.

He's certainly ahead of last year, but he still has many lessons to absorb.

I mean, sure, it's always time to "consider" things like that.

However, I don't think it was a mistake.  Our young talent has all played fairly well, suggesting that Stevens is doing a good job with it.  The team usually plays hard, and seems to be getting the most out of its talent.

The blown leads aren't great, but with this level of talent, I think he (and the players) get credit for building a lead in the first place.
