We crumbled against a 2-3 zone. We can not protect the paint and our outside shooting continues to be awful. Rondo nearly gets a triple double and we get run out of our own building by a D-League team. Again, we could not attack the 2-3 zone. That is a defense a bad high school team plays. This was an embarrassing loss of the highest magnitude.

I'm not saying we have equal talent, but a lot of people were saying the same exact things about the 10-11 Heat team that made it to the Finals.

But that wasn't as embarrassing, Dallas was the better team.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

But back to basketball - in brief, you're overreacting.  One game, one loss.  NBA coaches and players make adjustments.  It will be fine.

I find it rather interesting that there are so many threads with overreactions so far as well, particularly following losses.  It's good that fans are expecting a lot out of our team despite the clear lack of high-level talent on our roster.

We were wiped out by the 2-3 zone. We have not shot well from outside at all. Think about it. Teams  will simply zone up and dare us to shoot. (Where has Sullinger's three-pointer gone, btw?) In addition, teams that can get to the rim will bury us. We have zero rim protection. ZERO.
You are right about no rim protection. It's a bad combination with over aggressive guards on defense. I see posters getting on Bradley for his defense but he has zero help behind him.
It's true he had no help behind him, but before Bradley was the type of defender who made it difficult for his man to get the ball over half court.

Mostly I think the fault is the scheme. Their aggressiveness is leading to easy drives to the hoop. Hopefully Brad changes it up so that  we are more conservative in the future.

On the zone, I think we will play better the next time we see it. However, for this game Stevens was badly out coached.
Besides Marcus Smart, do we even have another good defender on this team? I think you might be right. Without the defenders, you just can't press up on your man or fight over the picks. I think we might be better going under and at least clogging the paint. We probably get crushed this way too. NBA players are too good to give open looks.

Dang this is going to be one bad defensive team this year.

The inconsistent shooting really isn't exclusive to this one game. They simply don't have guys who will make you pay often enough if you dare them to shoot. Olynyk is probably the best overall shooter among the starters which shows how limited they are.

Bass probably has the most consistent jumper out of everyone on the team. The other players haven't developed anything close to that level of consistency. Since they also don't have any other reliable go-to moves, they really need to make their bones by shooting better.

And Sullinger, please stop taking 3s!

OKC has flummoxed pretty much all of their opponents so far with the zone defense, save for Brooklyn.

Best overall period. Problem is he doesn't shoot enough. He'd be best shooter on most every team since second half of last season.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Rondo should scold everyone in the lockerroom after that performance.

I wasn't referring to just vs Dallas. They struggled vs the zone all year long that season. It's just that many coaches are dead set against using it.

I know all is right here on CB when I hit the front page and saw a thread titled: "Season Over".
