I think that 2008-09 team highlights just how good Doc was. Even with KG down and despite the awful play of Marbury and Moore, he somehow kept that group of tired legs together and believing

I know that no one will agree with me, but I thought that we should have brought Marbury back.  If we did it for Nate Robinson, who could only play one position and was never a point guard, why not give Steph the chance to go through a full training camp.  He was up and down, offensively, but he could pass in his sleep, lol, and I really think that if he had been given 24-26 minutes a night, he would have been Vinnie Johnson and Mark Aguirre-esque.  As much as I loved Eddie House, it's just not fair to him to compare him to Marbury lol.

I guess in many ways, signing Marbury was like the Ray Williams addition, in that both guys were rusty and didn't regain their form here, albeit for many reasons, even though Williams played extremely well against the Cavs in the playoffs and did have his moments in the regular season.  He, too, would have been great that next season if he had been retained for 85-86, and would have been a nice option to have off the bench even with Sichting, because he wasn't a playmaker, and the passing ability of that squad would have been even more ridiculous, imo.

Where was I?  Oh yeah, Marbury.  So, yeah, I think that if we had jettisoned Scal and House, resigned Marbury, signed Sheed, and drafted Wesley Matthews, we would have been awesome.  I also thought that there were a couple of guys who could have helped us tremendously who could have been picked up off the scrap heap, lol, in Jerry Stackhouse and Joe Smith.  I still would have signed Michael Finley mid-season, but, in hindsight, the guy I really wish that we had gotten, probably in some kind of sign and trade with Baby, was Brandon Bass.  I don't know if we still would have been able to get Marquis Daniels, but maybe Bird would have taken TA's expiring contract - who knows?  Still, that leaves us with this team -

Rondo/Marbury
Ray/Marbury/Daniels/Matthews/Stackhouse
Pierce/Daniels/Matthews/Stackhouse/Finley
KG/Bass/Joe Smith
Ben Wallace/Sheed/Joe Smith

I put Ben Wallace there because he was also on the scrap heap, and, given their play in the 2009 playoffs, Perk's and Baby's respective values were never higher, and we might have been able to trade them for a pick or two to help with our future.  At least, that's what I would have done, anyway.  Of course, if we had Deandre Jordan, there would have been no need for Big Ben.  So, how do you like my team?  We might have won another few games during the regular season, or not, depending on health, but our depth would have been even better than in 2008, imo, and even without homecourt after the first round, we would have won it all, perhaps even more convincingly in each round, but who knows?  Stackhouse would have helped immensely, given that Pierce and Ray were always reffed out of so many games against the Cavs and Lakers, imo.  Paul picks up two cheap ones?  No problem - Stack is there, and he would have still given us a slasher to put alongside KG, Ray, and Rondo.  Sigh.

Loved KG but I've got to go with Dirk. Closest thing to Larry Byrd I've seen. I also feel like Dirk did more with less talent surrounding him.
