Him and Westbrook are going to Lakers. This has been rumored for years now , they both played with eachother at UCLA.

Lakers offer them both the max, continue to play no defense and not win a lick. Cavs get clapped, Lebron continues to not win.

Celtics get a lottery pick for once, and the east is wide open.

The Lakers? Why not the Clippers?

The Clippers are the better team now in LA even before former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer acquired it. They are almost complete on every spot - the SF is a big question mark though. KLove would be great filling in the role of SF or PF. If he goes there, they would be instant title contenders.
The Clippers already have Blake Griffin, and Love isn't going to defend small forwards.  Bad fit.

So Kevin Love is the 2nd big time free agent to be rumored to be heading to the Lakers.  Didn't see that one coming.  Bravo.

TP bet time:

Name the third big time free agent that will be rumored to be going to the Lakers this offseason.

Whoever is the first to guess the name (once the rumor comes out to check) I will give them 20 TPs.

Brook Lopez

Lebron

Westbrook!!!!!!

Who's to say he wouldn't consider the Celtics?

There's no real reason for him to leave from a basketball perspective. There's no real reason for him to leave in regards to friends and family. All we have going for us is that we're not Ohio.

Of course there is. Love could be the number one option on a team that consists of a re-signed Rondo who is the NBA's best passing point guard, a legit number two scorer in Jeff Green that can guard the opposing teams best wing/forward and take pressure off Love on offense, above average wing defenders in AB and Smart, if we turn Sully into a defensive center there'd be no reason for Love to turn down that chance from a basketball perspective.

This sounds very much like it would replicate what the Wolves were trying to do.  From a basketball perspective, I think Love is far past trying to be the number one option for a bad/mediocre team over being a complimentary piece for a better team that happens to feature the best player in the world.

If Love were to do this we have truly reached an era where the players dictate their fates. Pulling a Dwight Howard with the team that Dwight Howard spurned? This would be a crushing blow to Cleveland.

Lakers keep their pick this year and Draft Mudiay. Love joins up. Kobe, Love, and Mudiay sneak em into the '16 playoffs and push the 1st seed to an entertaining game 7, Eventually Paul George comes off the books and joins up. Eventually Dante Exum now developed comes off the books and becomes the spiritual successor to Kobe. Roy Hibbert signs on the cheap so he can develop his acting career, stay with PG and take his spot as the next great Lakers Center. Kobe retires becomes coach and instills the triangle. Perennial finals contenders.

Mudiay
Exum
George
Love
Hibbert

Lebron spends the remainder of his career toiling away in the Cleveland Salt Mines finishing in the first and second round over and over again. Love's gone. Kyrie's bolted. "It's just me and Andy now". Varejao knocks on his door and tells him he wants to be closer to Brasil and is taking his talents to South Beach. The King rots in his empire of dirt.

Past his prime George Hill
Eric Gordon's corpse on year 2 of his second Max contract
Lebron
Thomas Robinson's 5th try at making it work

Imagine if we had traded for Love and had to deal with these rumors all season. Then next year Love leaves for our most hated rival. That would have been an absolute nightmare.

How would Westbrook leave when he's still under contract until 2017? The timing wouldn't be right.

Two things:

Exum has to wait five seasons to become an unrestricted free agent.  In this scenario, where does LAL get the cap room to sign him?  Love, Hibbert, and George would pretty much take up the cap by themselves.

And if things went south in Cleveland, why would Lebron stay?  He's not trapped there contractually.  He has outs.

Some absurd comments and replies here. Celtics fans want Love to leave Cleveland and go to THE LAKERS?!?! Our arch-rival? No way! I never want to see the day where the Lakers have more championships than us and it will be more likely to happen if Love goes there. They will attract other free agents again and be on there way to contending. I hope Love stays.

How shocked would you be if Kawhi Leonard bolted SAS for them?

If Love goes to LAL, I think they'll really look to lock up Rondo and probably succeed.

Imagine if they get a top 3 pick and select, say, Karl Towns. Then sign Love and Rondo? Wow.

Rondo
Kobe
A Ham Sandwich
Love
Towns

Yikes. Then Kobe comes off the books and your core becomes Rondo/Love/Towns, using cap space to build a great supporting cast. If that happened I'd go on like a good karma spree doing community service and singing Christmas carols on people's doorsteps to make sure those Nets picks all land in the top ten.

It'll never happen though.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

How shocked would you be if Leonard came to the Celtics?  Could we make it happen?
Jeff Green will likely opt out.  We will likely get a lottery pick and have the Brooklyn picks and other picks.  Philly and other poor teams have young centers.  So we might be able to trade up to get Towns/Okafor.
We would have a team that looks like this:
Rondo, Smart
Smart, Bradley
??, Young, Wallace
Sully, Olynyk
Towns/Okafor, Olynyk, Zeller

Would that not be an ideal spot for Leonard?  It looks better than an aging Spurs or a crappy Lakers team.  I believe we would have around $30m to sign Rondo and Leonard and we could easily dump Turner and could probably dump Wallace by giving up a pick to create more salary cap space.
