I certainly wouldn't give up any more for Kanter.but if the Jazz can't get a better offer that I say we take a swing at him he doesn't play much defense but he's a huge body still has some upside and I'll take a look at them for a late first what do you guys think
I guess if the Jazz accept this offer (which they probably won't), there is very little reason not to do it since you are giving up only an expiring and a relatively valueless 1st round pick. Kanter projects to me, at best, as a career backup on a deep playoff team. He's not the defense-first center that we need but he has ability and could be part of our rotation when we are a more competitive team or could be part of a trade or, since he can be basically an expiring contract, we could just let him move on.

I know beggars can't be choosers, but this team desperately needs a center who can play some defense. Enes has an intriguing offensive skillset but he's terrible defensively. And I have a hard time getting past the fact that Utah didn't even offer him an extension. That's a team in need of talented youth with money to spend who didn't see any reason to even offer a deal - not even as a good faith gesture. It speaks volumes.

Yeah, I'd do this and might even include a second pick or even Bass, KO, and the Clips pick.  Many people are asking why, well to quote Don Nelson, you can't teach height and he has 30 pounds on KO so he's a little more difficult to move out.

This is not true, as I just pointed out above.  The Jazz and Kanter not agreeing to extension terms =/= not even offering him an extension.

My mistake.

Doesn't change my opinion of him though. He's got the size and skillset, but seems to lack any substance between the ears. I don't think he's worth the investment.
