My opinion on players is that after they have been in the league 4-5 years they basically tend to be the player they were at that time. Sure, some players shoot slightly better or maybe develop a move or a shot they didn't have in their first few years but basically, their developmental path is pretty much done.
So with that said, Turner is what he is. He's a big SG/good size SF that rebounds well, has good passing ability, who likes the ball in his hands to create and doesn't have the best defensive skills, shooting prowess or decision making process. But given minutes, he will score, he will gooble up some rebounds and he will provide good energy and another ball handling player for you on the court.
In today's NBA that is probably worth $6-8 million a year. He's getting paid $3 milion a year. Is that maybe because he hasn't been the best locker room guy in the world? If you believe the rumors then maybe, but if he gives the Celtics on a per minute basis what he was giving Phiily for his last 2 and 1/2 years there per minute and isn't a locker room distraction, the Celtics have a massive bargain. MASSIVE BARGAIN.
But be prepared. Like Jeff Green Turner can be inconsistent in what he brings every night. He's going to have some horrible shooting nights and nights where his decision making or defense really hurt the team. Its what he does so you just gotta remember, he's not getting paid a lot so who cares. Nights like those will happen because it is what Evan Turner is.
I actually think it was a good addition, an addition that will look even better if Gerald Wallace is gone.
