We traded Sacramento's 2015 and 2017 2nd rounders, both top-55 protected until 2017 then extinguished. Which basically means we traded no picks because the Kings aren't likely to be a top-5 team any time soon. In return we received a Cleveland's 2016 and 2017 2nd round picks, likely very low selections in exchange for taking on a very small amount of salary. It's just a half-step from buying 2nd round picks.

Good move Danny!

Here's a worthless but amusing (to me) thought that just passed through my mind.....as it stands,we now possess 1/10th of the picks in the 2016 draft.

'16 draft

Our 1st
Nets 1st
Cavs 1st
Philly 2nd
Cavs 2nd
Heat 2nd

and our own 2nd is either going to Memphis or Toronto.

Somewhere out there, Belichick is nodding his head in approval.
geez, next year's draft pick thread is going to be massive for cbers. we have to guess at SIX players now? ;D

Yeah but everyone's bound to be right a couple of times! It's like a game of Battleship once you start zeroing in....or maybe not really like that.

Oh and just to clarify this is the 2016 draft I'm speaking of. Next year's draft we have a measly 4 picks, unless Washington is a top 11 team record wise, and we get their 2nd.

And by measly I don't mean small. The picks will have measles.
right. my mistake. only four picks next year. having so many picks is going to spoil us all.

10-11 draft picks over the next 2 years. That is bonkers!

I think it is safe to say we will be moving on up the draft ladder or the talent ladder on this team during that time! I am excited already!

Go Celtics!

So if the Bogans contract is so valuable why to Cleveland why are we giving it up for spare parts?

Bogans' contract allows for an immediate upgrade potential in a trade as you can pair with other resources. That gives it great value for a competing team. C's just aren't buyers this year and were looking for ways to lower cap (to sign Turner) but still have a chip (TE).

I was disappointed in the strategy because likely we are tanking with such an approach. Now after Rondo injury no way C's make playoffs or trying for upgrades. It's another tank season.

Cleveland can now use the Bogans and Heywood contracts to get Marc Gasol to play the 5. The Celtics get a few 2nds and a decent prospect out of the deal. No one will beat the GOAT's team anytime soon so just sit back and watch the tank.

If you had Marc Gasol, would you trade him for that?

No but expirings and picks are better than losing him for nothing. Getting to play with GOAT Irving and Love is a really good situation.

Yeah the celtics wanted to get Bogans off the team before camp to stay away from the tax, and to make room for Evan Turner. I think 2 late seconds, an exception and a look at a couple more players is a good return for a guy they might have just cut a few days later.

Meanwhile the Cavs are going to have to start paying Bogans his pricey rate with the hope that he helps grease the wheels of another trade. We will see if Cleveland actually lands anything for him.

Another nice under the radar move for Ainge this summer.

Again, if that's what it takes to get Gasol then why didn't we go after him with expirings and picks? He also went to HS in Memphis and is obviously comfortable there. Doubtful he goes anywhere.

Who's the GOAT?

On top of that, the notion that the Grizzlies are looking to move Gasol right now is ridiculous. Memphis went 33-17 to finish the season and lost in 7 games to the Thunder. Simply put, they're a really good team and a dark horse contender for the foreseeable future.

Are the cavs dumb? They could just cut these guys without giving up the 2nds then cutting bogans anyways.

No way they are looking to add bogus

Why wouldn't they want him?  He's got a very valuable contract, especially in conjunction with Brendan Haywood's expiring contract next off-season.

They have no plans to cut him.

Bogans just might be the luckiest man alive, lol.

not so lucky after all ( although just as lucky as he was before we traded him as he's getting paid big $ for nothing)

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.....
