Our offense was putrid for much of last year.  Were we watching the same team? ;D  I thought that it was the other way around, quite honestly.  Yeah, there were actual basketball plays :o at times, especially at the beginning of the year, but most of the time it was tough to watch.

At the beginning of the year, yes.  Towards the end of the year when Olnyk started coming on, and Pressey started learning to score, and especially when AB was playing well this team looked great at times offensively.  Furthermore, the style of offense that Brad Stephens runs is very pleasing to the eye and fun to watch.  I really enjoyed watching this team at the end of last year.

A motion based offense is a fun thing to watch.

Honestly, what is currently happening is Danny and Wyc are trying to be creative in staying to be competitive this year or in the next 3 years. The road map to success could be in the best effort and success Brad Stevens has for this team even without having more than 1 top caliber player. The road map that they could be employing is probably similar to that of the Spurs. The Spurs had a 38 year old All-Star in Duncan, who is even a borderline All-Star in recent years. Maximizing the talent (and talent potential) and increasing player efficiency of each player in our roster could be the key to success. Proper evaluation of players brought in is also crucial. Getting Love and whoever are the most coveted All-Star players are not a guarantee to post season success. Recent decades though dictate that most teams are successful in their title bids due to the collection of the best players who are in their prime years. The Spurs have shown and appear to be the antithesis of that approach. Or, Wyc and Danny and company could be trying a different approach other than the Spurs model.

Frankly, I would want the team to develop players according to what Stevens sees it as appropriate. We are not close into acquiring players like Lebron, Melo, Dwight, Durant, Love, Rose, etc. For as long as these players are not with us, we just have to keep our faith in Stevens. We have promising talented and skillful players in Rondo, Green, KO, Sully, Zeller, AB, Smart and Young to bank on. Lastly, I feel really excited to watch on what Stevens has to show for this upcoming season.

As opposed to OKC's offense?

Or Ko-Me?

I'm actually happy with watching the building process.  I'd just like to get rid of some of these extra players that are gonna A) Not really mesh with the young guys development, or B) are just taking up roster space.  Guys like Rondo, Green, Bass( whom I really enjoy watching play), I hope can fetch us some nice young talent.

This is going to be a very long season up coming for us my fellow Celtic fans. We all know Danny is planning for the future adding assets via trading and drafting and etc. Its a youth movement that we all have to be patient with and embrace. Yes is this team going to have trouble scoring? Yes they will. Will rookies make mistakes? Of course they are going to. But with cap room next year to spend and more players advancing there skills. This team will be back into contending in a few years. The gloomy days of the 90's are in the past. The future is very bright and I am proud to say I am  Celtic fan. No matter how bad this team is I will be right there supporting the Boys in Green White. This has been on my mind for the past few days for fans that are just ****ing about wanting to win now and keep blaming Danny for not being able to get Love or anybody else.

meh, it won't be a long season for me, I expect them to not win. I'll still be rooting for them regardless if they are a 60+ win team or a 10 win team. The Celtics are my favorite team and I bleed green. I trust Danny, and rebuilds aren't done in ONE or TWO years.

I don't mind the rebuild at all as long as the bulk of the minutes go to Smart, Young, KO and Sully....At this stage it's more important for those guys to get minutes than win games IMO...

It's been said to death but I'll say it again: we're at the end of rebuild year 1, with a few ahead of us in all likelihood. I think our hopes for something quicker went out the window on lottery day.

That said, I'm glad Danny has been patient. He has pressure from fans (and from the sounds of it, ownership) to improve the team quickly. We certainly have the assets right now to turn us into a playoff team - maybe even one that reaches the second round - but Danny has thus far held off on trading our young guys and picks for the dreaded mid-tier stars on bad contracts.

I hate watching bad basketball but at this point, I think rolling the dice for one more season is probably the right thing to do. If Rondo returns to previous form and one or more of our young guys shows All-Star promise, we will enter next summer with more valuable assets and a potentially greater free agent pool, relative to this summer.

Honestly who is there left to get in the next 5 years that would turn this team around immediately, realistically speaking.  Gasol isnt comeing here, neither is Durant or Westbrook.  We're putting our hopes in guys that "might" want to come here and it may not happen.  Look at Houston,  gutted there roster to get bosh and carmelo and nothing.  Lets get some young guys like  a harrison Barnes that maybe need a chance to really shine, and create our own team of talented players.

i don't know if it's just me but i wish we had a more solid youth movement going on. So far, Smart is really the only young guy i enjoy getting behind, and he'll be playing behind Bradley and Rondo, both of whom are sure to get heavy minutes.

Comparing it to the previous youth movement where i genuinely enjoyed rooting for Big Al, G-Green, TA, and even Delonte.

We will rebuild in one of the following two ways:

1. Role the dice with Rondo, in hopes that (A) he re-signs with us and (B) we attract a stud FA; or
2. Trade Rondo, and (A) play youngsters, (B) draft a stud player with a high lottery pick.

No one on our roster, save Rondo, is a star in the making. Even if you really like Smart (I am somewhere on the middle with him), you should concede that he projects to be a decent role player, but not an All Star.

Danny needs to either commit to 1 or 2.  Frankly, I think the odds of 2 occurring are better than 1, and for that reason think we should rebuild without Rondo.

I could change my mind tomorrow, though.

With these mobile 4s and 5s, this team will only win when running. We're not gonna overwhelm anyone in the halfcourt.

were we ever not "real" about this team?

I don't think I've ever heard anyone realistically claim the Celtics were winning it all this season. there's a contingent of C's fans that apparently really believe KO, Sully & Smart are booked for the HoF already and shouldn't be traded for anything less than Jesus. but you get that with every fan base.

but even those fans have been "real" about this team's expectations this yr.
