Ainge has a tendency to over value his own players, ie Bass, Bradley, Green, etc...
I hope that is not the case with Rondo.
he doesnt overvalue. he overpays because he knows free agents dont want to come.

Green was a free agent, Bradley was a free agent,....

Ainge could of overpaid someone better.

I believe Jackie. Sometimes the truth hurts. I think Ainge has been looking fairly aggressively for a Rondo trade options. I also think that Rondo considers himself one of the best PGs in the NBA, and should be paid like one.

Nothing new or that shocking here.

We didn't want things to end with Ray Allen the way they did, but months before his departure Jackie said people aren't paying attention if they think Ray is staying with the Celtics. Sometimes the truth hurts.

It's probably very difficult to be in Rondo's shoes right now.  On the one hand, he wants to stay, but naturally no one knows how long this rebuilding process will take, and on the other, he's seen what Danny can do, but he also shows no loyalty.  Forget the max deal, if I were Rondo, I'd be asking for a no-trade clause.  That's the only way I'd stay, and trust me, I'm fiercely loyal, but I hate how Ainge constantly shops his players around.

I think the C's would be crazy to give Rondo a no-trade clause.

And I don't think the C' are crazy.

These guys were already here.   KG didn't like it until he saw the fans and then he loved it.   We must have a bad reputation across the league.

I like her but how many times did she report kg would retire? Like 5?

She's a good writer but she never breaks anything newsworthy.

She's an analyst basically. She's not an investigative journalist like Woj.

That's not entirely true. She was the first one to say that KG was coming back last summer. I think she said he was going to retire several times because that's probably the direction KG was leaning following certain seasons.

Quote
Jackie Mac on CSNNE: "I'm hearing that Kevin Garnett is coming back for one more year... they're all waiting on KG"

So she can just say something untrue a bunch of times, and then change her opinion and be right all of a sudden ?

Sounds like the same thing she is doing here . Rondo wants the max so he might get traded , but then again he might not get the max .

By the way does anyone honestly believe Danny has been actively trying to trade Rondo for the last 5 years ? Yes he offered him for CP3 and Curry , but that is much different than actively shopping him just to get rid of him, like she makes it sound . Those are two top 10 players in the league , of course Danny is going to do his job and improve anywhere he can.

IIRC, she gave her assessment of how she thought KG was leaning at the time. She's got a good enough record in general for me to believe that she was probably right.

Why would that be crazy?  He is, after all, our marquee player.

This is so hilariously wrong its almost incredible.

Agreed. Jackie is one of the best journalists in our area and has been for a long time. People in this thread really disrespecting her right now.

It's systemic with the business, and the proof lies in this thread and on this blog in general.

People no longer want information. They want to be told that what they want to believe is correct. Intellectual laziness at its best. True in politics, true on the subject of the wildly overrated point guard of the Boston Celtics.

I don't think there are any posters on here (including myself and probably BBallTim as well) who think that if Rondo were a free agent right now he would be able to receive anywhere near the max contract of about $100 million over 5 years.

You are engaging in the tactic which has become your M.O. around here, which is to rant against a viewpoint that doesn't exist.

You're just chasing windmills, man.

If Rondo wants a max contract next off-season, he's going to have to earn it.  I'm looking forward to seeing him work hard to earn his next paycheck this coming season, and I'm hoping he gets the chance to do it as a Celtic.

I don't see anything intellectually lazy about that.

And you're above it all...

(of course it helps that you dislike Rondo and want him traded, so confirmation bias and all that)

This is one of the main reasons that Ainge needs to deal role player Rondo stat. The guy at 10 mil is probably fine but 20 is way too much. I'm tired of the stalling when it comes to doing the right thing. Blow it up!

Some of you guys are hysterical. I bet Rondo has more triple doubles, especially in the playoffs, than any "role player" in the history of the NBA.

Yeah, Rondo's a role player, the real superstars are draft picks who haven't stepped on the court in an nba game.
