Ainge has a tendency to over value his own players, ie Bass, Bradley, Green, etc...
I hope that is not the case with Rondo.

Taj just turned 29 and has only been in the league 5 years.  He is way more athletic than Sullinger and way better on defense.  These guys have been through the playoff battles a little.  Maybe I was a little over the top with the picks, but this trade is on target.  This would speed up the rebuild big time.

Let this season play out and see just where everyone falls on this team. Last season can't be used as a barometer for anything. This a big year for guys like Rondo, Green, Avery, plus some of the young guys.

Gibson's well older than Sully and possibly better than Sully was last year. The package from Chicago isn't worth Rondo alone, maybe it would be reasonable if you took out Rondo and a first from our end. I'm not sure how creating a team of scrappy defensive role players is supposed to speed up our rebuild. I also doubt that counting on Green and smart to carry our scoring is a recipe for success.

She's an analyst basically. She's not an investigative journalist like Woj.

This is so hilariously wrong its almost incredible.

Agreed. Jackie is one of the best journalists in our area and has been for a long time. People in this thread really disrespecting her right now.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

I believe Jackie. Sometimes the truth hurts. I think Ainge has been looking fairly aggressively for a Rondo trade options. I also think that Rondo considers himself one of the best PGs in the NBA, and should be paid like one.

Nothing new or that shocking here.

We didn't want things to end with Ray Allen the way they did, but months before his departure Jackie said people aren't paying attention if they think Ray is staying with the Celtics. Sometimes the truth hurts.

+1

Of course he wants the max.  Look at what Bosh and Melo just got at a similar age.

It's his play this year that will determine if he's going to get what he wants.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams

Lately, Jackie Mac has been a cross between Debbie Downer and Negative Nancy.

If he wants to get a max deal he needs to show that he deserves it this year. If he comes out and plays like poop I doubt he sticks to that.

If his play warrants a max then we will give it to him and it should convince other good players to join him in Boston. If he plays poorly then we won't miss him much if he leaves in free agency.

I say keep him and give him a chance to show what he's really worth.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Ok so Rondo may leave this summer because he sees no end to the rebuild.  We salvage it by getting two veteran, athletic forwards.  We are banking in Smart being our Rose/Wade/Wall.  He will probably struggle in year one at point guard, so we will likely be picking in the 12-18 range.  Trade up using multiple picks ang get the 7 footer that we want.  Then we basically have a 2010-1012 Bulls type roster, we would just be looking for a shooter off the bench.  Might have to overpay to keep Green as our 6th man.

(2015 pick). Zeller
Gibson. Olynyk
Butler. Green
Bradley
Smart. (Bradley)

Maybe a year from now we trade for a G/F using Wallace's expiring contract, Olynyk, and a pick.  If we can get a good scorer/shooter like maybe Hayward if the Jazz are struggling and they decide he isn't worth the money.

If I was Rondo I would be asking to be traded at this point. This team won't contend for 3-4 years at best and it makes sense for him to want to move on. I love the guy, but can't understand why he would want to stay here and play for coach Mr. Rogers on a non-competitive team.
