I always find it funny when ever someone hammers sully and BBD before him about their weight. If he is 6'9 and 260lbs I would not consider that generally over weight. Its just that compared to most "skinny' basketball players they look fat. I know plenty of guys who I play with in local mens league who are 6'3 - 6'5 and well over 240 pounds and generally would not consider them over weight. I actually always find it amazing when I go to live games and get down near the court how overly skinny most NBA players are. There are two former D-1 guys in my area when is 6'10 and has to be 320+ pounds (played at 250) and the other is 6'8 and at least 280 (played at 240) but at their height they have relatively normal proportions just super sized.

The point of my rant is that if sully was 6' rather then 6'9 he would prob be a normal looking 210lb guy, where other NBA bigs would be on the skinny size.

I get your point, but NBA players have lower body fat percentages than ordinary people.  Sully may not be over weight compared to most people or the guys you play with, but he is for an NBA player and that's what matters.  I could not tell anything from that video of Sully.  I really hope he takes physical fitness seriously because I think he can be a very good PF if he does put the work in.  I hope he has paid attention to what Kevin Love has done, but I will be skeptical until he accomplishes that.

I think when they talk about Sully it is more the flab than the weight, but I agree with your overall point about weight in the NBA. I once saw a bunch of Knicks players back when Patrick Ewing and John Starks were on the team. They had a game in LA and they were out shopping in Beverly Hills. I was surprised to see how thin Patrick Ewing was. It is funny when people like Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon were/are referred to as big men. They were/are not big. NBA players are actually small. Compared to the general public they are amazingly thin.

NBA players are very thin.  I remember watching Jordan play baseball and he looked like a stick figure.

After seeing this thread and the front page story about, "a slimmer Sully," I just hope that this thread doesn't turn into another, "Wow.  KO's new beach body," thread bahaha ;D  Actually, never mind - that thread was hilarious ;D

I don't know why some people think all pro basketball players should be chiseled freaks of nature. Sure, Sully's a big dude, but his wide backside is part of what helps him be so good. He's never gonna look like Tim Duncan, people. As long as he doesn't turn into Oliver Miller, who cares?
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

While true, it's not the weight loss in itself, but the repeated reports over the last two years that Sully's lack of conditioning was a hindrance.  The weight loss represents the better conditioning.  Furthermore, metabolism tends to slow down as you get older, and basketball players, and people in general, tend to pack it on a bit as they are.  He's in his early 20s... It'd be good for him to get to a lower baseline before that occurs, or he might find himself closer to Oliver Miller than you'd hoped.

Sherrod Blakely tweeted tonight that Sully has lost a noticeable amount of weight.   Do you know that he hasn't, or are you going by last year condition?

Yeah he looks more fit for sure.

He is still HUGE .....he got the rebounding derrière  going on.....dat big ol butt ....keeps em off his rebound.

Hope his finger is better...that injury really screwed up his passing and shooting IMO

Sully gas the potiental to be an Al Jefferson type clone with similar numbers.

If we can just get a good physical center ...rim protector rebounder .....let Sully and Kelly do the scoring.

he can lose as much weight as he want.....that big butt isn't going anywhere

We should hope not.  Big butts are incredibly useful for rebounding.

I speak from experience  :D
Yup

Should help his speed and endurance and leaping.   I hope it is true, it will raise his ceiling some.

Not impressed by what I saw recently. Yes his face looked leaner; but the rest of him was not noticeably different. I wonder if him working with his dad is not part of the problem. Perhaps he needs some tough love from some pro trainers.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I wonder what his weight is now?
Does anyone with Twitter wanna ask him? ie a reply with:

'Sully you look great, how many pounds have you gotten down to?

You can do that on Twitter right?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."
