wouldn't be surprised to see sully become the next Antoine. forget about rebounding and just run from 3 pt line to 3 pt line.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sully, but he honestly looks smaller here than he did at the end of the season. Still only July, and it looks like he has lost some weight to me already. Not sure what I'm missing here.

I'm not his biggest fan, but he looks at least as large to me as he did at the end of the season.

Still, I very much hope that he pushes himself away from the table and lets Brian Doo work miracles with him by training camp.

i'm not moving to judge yet. we're still a while away from the preseason. it might be the case that sully decided to do weights early to build up strength and will ramp up the cardio as the season approaches. fact is, if players are committed, its not THAT hard to drop a lot of fat, especially for basketball players. i can see him easily drop 15+ pounds in a month if he's eating right and playing and doing some cardio every day.

negative Nancies

Shouldn't you be at the Harry Potter forum?  Negative Nancies, I guess school is out for the summer.   Are you Positive Pete?   I am Sarcastic Sam, nice to meet you.

Moses Malone was a dude that used his massive lower torso to get position for rebounds.

Was taller and not so earthbound as Sully.  He could jump too.   Sully could not hold his own even remotely against Moses.  Not he does not have a big gut like Sully.
The "negative nancies" actually came from this board. I saw it posted so many times I must have mistaken it for an "in thing".
I'm 70 years old son.  Harry Potter forum???  I think not.  :)

I'm with you.  if Sully trots himself out at 280 lbs. at the start of preseason, now I'm worried!!!
for right now it seems it's the media, once again,  desperately trying to make a controversial topic fly!!!

Looks like Sully has lost some weight.  Walter could afford to take off a few pounds though.

He obviously stopped doing steroids.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Let's hope so, he looks a tad leaner.   I hope it helps his lift without hurting his rebounding but it should also help him run the floor easier and ease up pressure on his back.

All you sully haters need to go watch the video on celtics.com with emily austin. Sully looks noticeably thinner than at the end of last yr (which I don't really think he was overweight like ppl on here say). But you can see in his face and neck he's lost alot of that extra weight. Hoping he continues to beast like he did last year
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I've been really hard on him as a player but I want him to succeed for us.  I think he does look thinner around the neck and chin as I could not much more than that in the pic.   I will check out the video.

I always find it funny when ever someone hammers sully and BBD before him about their weight. If he is 6'9 and 260lbs I would not consider that generally over weight. Its just that compared to most "skinny' basketball players they look fat. I know plenty of guys who I play with in local mens league who are 6'3 - 6'5 and well over 240 pounds and generally would not consider them over weight. I actually always find it amazing when I go to live games and get down near the court how overly skinny most NBA players are. There are two former D-1 guys in my area when is 6'10 and has to be 320+ pounds (played at 250) and the other is 6'8 and at least 280 (played at 240) but at their height they have relatively normal proportions just super sized.

The point of my rant is that if sully was 6' rather then 6'9 he would prob be a normal looking 210lb guy, where other NBA bigs would be on the skinny size.

I think when they talk about Sully it is more the flab than the weight, but I agree with your overall point about weight in the NBA. I once saw a bunch of Knicks players back when Patrick Ewing and John Starks were on the team. They had a game in LA and they were out shopping in Beverly Hills. I was surprised to see how thin Patrick Ewing was. It is funny when people like Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon were/are referred to as big men. They were/are not big. NBA players are actually small. Compared to the general public they are amazingly thin.
